We live in the Berks/Lancaster area of PA and used this for an "it's-too-cold-to-get-out-of-the-car" field trip. We read the information then went on a hex sign hunt as we drove throughout the counties. Great fun!

Description

This is a PDF file that includes a wide array of worksheets for students to use as references and resources to design their own Hex Sign. A factual information sheet for a teacher resource is included as well as a full lesson with essential questions, objectives, vocabulary, and resources.

-Lesson Plan included-This can be adapted to grade levels 3-8.

-Images of symbols used in hex signs and the meaning of the symbols, colors, and pictures.

-Worksheet that has a list of colors and symbols and their meanings. This is great to pass out to students who are designing their hex sign.

-This can be printed out and made into a large packet for students to use as a resource and reference to design their own hex sign.

-This lesson integrates PA history, folk art, radial symmetry, pattern, color, symbolism, and much more!
