Costco Is Selling a 157-Piece Le Creuset Set

Costco is known and loved for its bulk products and beloved Kirkland brand, but sometimes there are items on their shelves that simply make us cock our heads and say, "Huh." Those include the bumper cars, of course, the Bugatti scooter, and we could never forget the outdoor Igloo for all your alfresco party needs. The latest product that we and many others are obsessed with? A 157-piece Le Creuset set you can purchase for the modest price of $4,500. People are so obsessed, in fact, that it's shockingly already sold out.

The set has apparently been available to buy for a few weeks now, but it's gaining attention thanks to a post by @gannonbreslin on social media site X, formerly Twitter. "Costco is now offering a 157-piece Le Creuset set for $4,500 that arrives at your home on a PALLET," the caption reads. Imagine coming home to your spouse, telling them you made a bit of an impulse purchase, then having to explain that it'll be delivered on a pallet. Le Creuset has quite the cult following, but committing to 157 pieces, from a Dutch ovens to a gravy boat to a pie bird, that's true dedication.

As one would imagine, the commenters are opinionated. In response to the post, one person wrote, "Ridiculous price. Unbundle and buy the pieces you need." A fair point, as many others added that most people wouldn't need, be able to store, or ever use half of the cookware included in the set. "This is complete overkill for almost everyone haha. Multiple Dutch ovens, multiple casserole dishes, the gravy dish that gets used once a year…" said another. Which begs the question: Who would actually buy all of this?

The original poster politely came to the defense multiple times of those interested in purchasing this set, replying to one person, "You'd be surprised how many people's passions are cooking... but probably this set up is better for bakers than anything." Therein lies the most sensible answer. While this may not be for just anyone's kitchen, especially if you live in a small space to begin with, maybe a semi-professional baker or cook could really use this insane deal. The price tag may discourage you now, but this is actually kind of a steal once you start looking into just how many products you'll be getting. The only downside, according to some commenters, is that it's only available in red.
