It's a pig statue right below the famous sign.
It's literally a piggy bank. Put some coins in it. The money funds various charitable causes like a food bank, day care, senior center, etc.
Now you just need to find Billie, an even bigger pig statue at the market.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 19, 20241 check-in

It's a cute statute / large piggie bank near the front of Pike Place. It's like the size of a real large pig and it makes for a good landmark to take a selfie with. I do caution patrons to not touch rachel as she's located right in front of the fish market.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jun 23, 2023
I love this! I found Rachel the pig as soon as I walked into the market from Pike Street. What the luck. I look and she was right there.
One of the two pig mascots/sculptures and are working piggy banks. There is a slot in her back for donations if you would like to contribute and proceeds go to the Pike Place Market Foundation.
A cute and definite must find when visiting Pikes Place Market.Helpful 11Thanks 2Love this 15Oh no 0 - 37818486546May 30, 2023
I mean it's a statue of a pig what do you expect lol, but it is a landmark of the area. If you're going to stop to look at the gun wall you need to add it to the list or have you even been to Seattle?

Rachel!!! You cute big bronze piggy bank!
Located right in front of Pike Place Market.
The details of Rachel match up exactly to a pig minus the coin slot on her back, she even has nipples!
I am a sucker for random animal statues!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 29, 2016
The iconic swine of Pike Place Market in Seattle! When your at the market you really need to sit and ride that beast like its no tomorrow. Photo opportunity for those beast lovers are a must. I know I rode her for the fun of it with unbridled enthusiasm.
Around the market you'll find others but non like her aka Rachel. She smells kinda fishy but that's from the guys throwing fish 15ft away for the tourists that gather for the fish toss.
I'd say that bronze beast is always fun to stop and see. Give her a big kiss for Frank when u see her.Helpful 66Thanks 0Love this 75Oh no 0 - Feb 18, 2018
Rachel the Pig!
This was probably one of the most fun photo ops in Seattle, simply because Rachel was adorable!
After getting a bit lost the honey spotted her and I waited for a few moments for my turn to give her a hug. I hadn't realized she was a piggy bank, but that made her all the more cute!
A super cute, free, adorable stop during our Pike Place Market afternoon and definitely worth dropping by if you're in the area or visiting Seattle!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Nicole G.Anaheim, CA339136869Jan 18, 2018
I mean, Rachel the big is Seattle's pike market mascot, so you have to pay her visit! The brass pig is a huge piggy bank, feed her some change and you'll be blessed with good vibes since your helping out charity.
Over the years, giving change to Rachel the pig has become a big tradition in Seattle. She's right out in front of the market so you can't miss her. Sight my to her left you'll see stairs that lead you to the ally where the famous gun wall is. It's a great tourist spot.
Thanks Rachel the pig for being so charitable!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Michael R.Seattle, WA12973422020May 7, 2018
Rachel the Pig is located at the Pike Place Market right under the large market sign right next to the the Flying Fish stand. The facts and history of Rachel the Pig:
Rachel arrived at the corner of Pike Place under the iconic "Public Market Center" sign and clock in 1986. She is a bronze cast piggy bank created by Georgia Gerber, a sculptor from Whidbey Island, Washington. Weighing in at 550 pounds (250 kg), Rachel was named after a real 750-pound pig who won the 1985 Island County Fair. Her cousin, Billie the Piggy Bank, arrived in the Market in 2011 and sits on Western Avenue at the bottom of the Hillclimb.
Rachel was the inspiration behind the "Pigs on Parade" fundraiser throughout downtown Seattle in 2001 and again in 2007 for the Market's centennial celebration.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 26, 2013
Add a pig to the list of famous statues that includes the Wall Street bull and the New York Library lions (you know they have names, right? Patience is the more southerly lion and Fortitude is northerly) in the US and Greyfriars Bobby in Edinburgh.
It's apparently good luck to put money into Rachel, the market's pig mascot. So do it!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0
