OP
I have a SONY CRT HDTV which is incredibly heavy (needs at least two strong men or women to carry it), but if it works with PS2's light gun games then it could make it worth keeping it around.

I'll see if I can find an image on the web of the TV...

Also, I have the Namco gun (which looks really cool, if I'd say so myself).

If it's a 480i and doesn't do any fancy image processing (like frame doubling), it should work just fine. Flat/curved doesn't matter for lightguns, it's mainly resolution and the hertz the screen is running at. So long as it's a standard CRT that displays 480i, it should work without issue.

It would be better if you knew the precise model number of the TV, so you can check and see some detailed specs.

I just checked. I can't get to the back, but on the front says Samsung so I found the exact model on the web.

It's good to know it likely works so that's great.

Checking the specs, it likely won't work. The res on the TV is 1080i, and because of that it's likely it's going to upscale any 480i signal to fit the whole screen which won't work for light guns (mainly because of the input lag introduced).

No it won’t. It’s an HDTV. Needs to be an SDTV CRT for it to work.
That's not necessarily true, there are some "HDTV" CRTs I've seen that do work with light guns, as they're still all analogue so they don't have any additional processing in them.

But they are quite rare, to be fair, so generally speaking, unless you're lucky, if it says HDTV it probably wouldn't. But always good to check anyways

can't you just test it? or is it just not near any power outlets
It's got a crap ton of stuff around it that I just can't get to, to test it.

But it's good to know it's a 50/50 chance. I just wish it wasn't so heavy.
