Nice Set With Some Minor Issues
Tyler K.· Review provided by gameofbricks.eu · February 2, 2024
The kit does a good job of bringing some additional beauty to an already beautiful set. For the most part, installation is easy, but wrapping wires around different parts of trees can get confusing when trying to manage wire length. I wish that the wires were colored more closely to the areas of the sets that they're applied to. There are some white wires to help camouflage them in the gazebo, but the trees end up wrapped in black wires, which is a little off-putting. I would have preferred brown wires for the trees, grey for stone, etc.

The wires are thin, which is great for keeping them less visible and snaking them through bricks, but it also makes them easy to break. I accidentally cut one in half between two plates, which wasn't great, but support was excellent and they got me a replacement in a week. Game Of Bricks includes some extra bricks to help with managing the cables and I wish they included special plates with holes in them to prevent having to sandwich wires between the floor in Bilbo's study, for example. One section of the floor is permanently not fully installed in order to prevent a wire from being snipped. This is the section where I accidentally cut the first wire so I'm not going to attempt making it look flush

The lights look nice, but I wish there were better instructions for setting them/ ways to customize them more. I stumbled upon a look I liked most, but it was mostly accidental and feels unintentional. One of the modes has everything with a static glow except the ring, which pulses like a nightclub, which is cool, but takes away from the visual, in my opinion.
Almost flawless set

Will list some cons about this set more intended for Lego to improve future sets. If you're looking at this to buy, yeah 100% recommend, it's one of the best sets I've ever seen Lego pull off, great craftsmanship, and sturdy build, great color choice. Almost flawless to every degree.

More for lego, don't want to be seeing any stickers in higher end sets like these. Have seen what you're capable of with prints. What Gimli's helmet looks like in this set should have been the quality bar for every character minifigure piece. Compare Dumbledore from your latest iteration of Harry Potter from the Great hall set to Gandalf and you can see what's missing. Side prints/back prints. It's weird for this set to have included more detail on the side characters than the main characters.

The characters basically feel unfinished. There will be a future iteration that will go the extra step so the arms have a small chainmail design, or the suggestion of wrinkles or something. This set is older than the newer Harry Potter series being released today, so it's possible Lego knows this, but there's just clear signs of a next generation for these lego lord of the rings characters that aren't in this set unfortunately

Back to the stickers, bought this set with others, the A-Frame cabin went the extra mile to have ever piece use prints over a sticker, and really wish this Lord of the Rings set did the same. Going forward, really hope you go the extra mile on ever set marketed at adults to never include a sticker again.
The Lord of the Rings Rivendell
LordJazzyOwl105· Review provided by LEGO · April 6, 2024
The Last Homely House West of the sea! How to start? The Lord of the Rings Rivendell blew my mind away. From the building techniques, to the Minifigures, to the vibrant colors, Rivendell is a veritable buffet of Lego. I love Lord of the Rings, and although I can't exactly call myself a versed scholar in Tolkien's magical world, I can say that Lego is the perfect medium to depict it in. Unfortunately the original Lord of the Rings sets were released before I had taken an interest in the series, and unwilling to pay the high prices on Amazon for these sets, all I could do was wait. And boy did it pay off! The Lord of the Rings Rivendell is a dream come true. It depicts such an iconic location from the legendarium, and contains a beautiful cast of characters. I couldn't believe that all nine members of the fellowship all came in one set, and with new weapon molds to boot! The building techniques are innovative and accurately capture the elven architecture present in the movie. I especially like the gazebo and its use of lifesavers and candle pieces. The council of Elrond is equally as iconic, and although the chairs don't fix the Minifigures in place, they can still be positioned at the right angle to stay put. I have so many words to say about this set that can't all be covered in one interview, but overall I think that this is an excellent set that is worthy of purchase for seasoned Lego builders and Lotr fans alike. I highly recommend this product.
One of the all-time greats

The Rivendell set is a monumental achievement, nearly setting a new bar for what is achievable through a mass-marketed Lego set.

From a pure design and display standpoint, it's a breathtaking stunner of a statement piece. The details packed in to every inch of the set are extraordinary. There's not a single portion of this model that isn't captivating.

The overall look of the thing perfectly suits both the inspiration from the movies and the Lego whimsy - which, I'm pleased to say, is deployed here with a light touch, softening some of the edges without detracting from the somewhat aloof and mildly unsettling nature of the elves.

As a build experience, this set was an utter joy. It's broken into sensible portions and manageable stages. Lego has truly made incredible strides when it comes to their build experiences, and this set is no exception. You never hit uncomfortable stretches of difficult tedium - not even with those roof tiles (which are less torturous than you expect!)

Yes, I'm a fan of the books and the movies, but even if I wasn't, I think this set would be something special. It is utterly sublime.
