' The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in nose protectors, and. has for its primary object :to provide, in a manner .as hereinafter :set forth, anaarticle ofathis character which will positively protect the wearer from sunburn, germs; dust, et .cetera.

. :Ano'ther very important object of theinvention is to provide .a nose protector of the character described which .is adapted .:to be expeditiously arid-firmly mounted in .positionon spectacle or sunaglasszframes without-the use of extraneous securing means.

Other objects of .the invention are to provide a nose protector of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple in construction, durable, highly efiicient and reliable in use, compact, light in weight, comfortable, and which may be manufactured at low cost.

All of the foregoing andstill further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:

Figure 1 is a plan view of the blank from which the article is formed.

Figure 2 is a view in side elevation of a nose protector constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 3 is a View in front elevation thereof.

Figure 4 is a perspective view, showing the protector mounted in position for use.

Figure 5 is a perspective view of a slightly different form of the invention.

Figure 6 is a view in horizontal section, taken substantially on the line 66 of Figure 5.

Figure"? is a plan view of the blank from which the modification is formed.

Referring now to the drawings in detail and to Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, thereof in particular, it will be seen that the protector is formed from a single sheet of suitable material and comprises an upwardly tapering front I having a. pair of vertical slots 2 therein at an intermediate point. Projecting at an inclination from the upper end of the front I is a neck 3 which terminates in a substantially shield-shaped head 4. The head 4 has formed in its side portions pairs of transverse slots 5, the purpose of which will be presently set forth. Flaps Ii are provided on the sides of the neck 3, said flaps being foldable on the lines I. Ears 8 depend from the side portions of the head 4 adjacent the flaps E. The purpose of the elements 6 and 8 will also be presently set forth.

With the head 4 extending upwardly at an angle from the neck 3, as best seen in Figure 2 of the drawings, the tongues II are inserted through the pairs of slots 5 and adhesively secured and the construction and arrangement is such that the ears 8 extend downwardly adjacent the upper portions of the sides 9 and outwardly of said sides. The perforated bottom I2 is then folded rearwardly on the lines I3 and the flaps I4 are folded upwardly on' the lines I6 against the sides 9. The tongues I5 are then brought across the front I and inserted through the slots 2 from opposite directions and adhesively secured.

To mount the protector on a spectacle or sun glass frame H, the upper portion of the neck 3 is engaged beneath the bridge I8. The ears 8 are engaged with the nose saddles I9 for firmly but removably securing the protector. in position.

In the embodiment illustrated in Figures 5, 6 and '7 of the drawings, the sides 9 have formed therein pairs of slots 20. Tongues 2I on the upstanding flaps 22 of th imperforate bottom 23 are inserted through the slots 20 and adhesively secured to the sides 9. Then, the lower, inner portions of the sides 9 are formed to provide small, substantially triangular flaps 24which are inserted beneath the flaps 22. In other respects this form of the invention is substantially similar in construction to the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, inclusive. of the drawings.

If desired, the blanks, instead of being folded, may be either pressed or molded to the desired shape, said blanks being of suitable material to facilitate the production of the article in these manners.

It is believed that the many advantages of a nose protector constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood,

and although preferred embodiments of the deto the head, a bottom on the other end of the front, upstanding flaps on the bottom, means securing the flaps against the sides, and ears on the head engageable with aneyeglass frame for removably mounting the protector thereon.

A nose protector of the character described comprising an elongated tapered front, a neck integral with the small end of the front, a head integral with said neck, said head having slots therein, sides integral with the front, flaps on the neck adhesively secured to the sides, tongues on the sides engaged in the slots in the head, and a bottom integral with the large end of the front.

3. A nose protector comprising an elongated, tapered front, a head on one end of the front, said head having slots therein, sides integral with the front, tongues on the sides secured in the slots for connecting the head ,to said sides, a bottom integral with the other end of the front, and depending ears on the side portions of the head engageable With the nose saddles of an eyeglass frame for mounting the protector thereon.

A nose protector of the character described comprising an elongated, tapered front, a. neck on the small end of said front, a head on said neck having slots therein, sides integral with the front. tongues on the sides cooperating with said slots to connect said sides to the head, the front having slots therein, a perforated bottom integral with the large end of the front, upstanding flaps integral with the bottom extending adjacent the sides, and tongues on the flaps cooperating with the slots in said front for securing said flaps against the sides.

5. A nose protector of the character described comprising an elongated tapered front, sides integral with said front, said sides having slots therein, a head on one end of the front, means on the head for mounting the protector on an eyeglass frame, a bottom integral with the other end of the front, flaps on said bottom extending upwardly against the sides, retaining tongues on said flaps secured in the slots, and tongues on the lower portions of the sides engaged beneath the flaps.

6. A protector for attachment to an eye glass to depend therefrom over the nose comprising a. box-like flaring member having a flat front, flat sides and upper and lower fiat ends, a head-forming flap at the upper end of the member adapted to protect the area between the eyes above the nose, and a pair of ears depending from opposite side edges of said flap adapted to hook over the bridge of the eye glass to attach the member thereto.
