To (1U fr/mm, 'it m ay/ concer/z Be it known that I, ALFRED CAsslRuR, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Munich, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Centrifugal Drying- Machiue, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to aA centrifugal ma chine, designed particularly for drying and aci-ating wet clothes or other articles, fitted with scoops or cups to convey air to the material in the centrifugal; and it consists in arranging the scoops or cups on an inwardly projecting upper part of the receptacle or basket. The scoops or cups arranged in that way catch the air as the basket rotates and convey it to the inside of the basket, thus at the upper part thereof, with an inwardlyl projecting annular rim or flange b. On that rim are the scoops or cups o and in the example selected for illustration these are pressed or bent out ofthe material of which the rim b is formed. The plane of each inlet openinv al lies radially with respect to the axis of the basket` so that, as the basket rotates, the air is caught up approximately as indicated by the pairs of little arrows drawn in Fig. 2. As it enters the basket the air will assume a direction approximately as shown by the arrows drawn in Fig. l, and it will in the first place exert pressure on the clothes or other articles and will then pass through same and the perforated wall of the basket into the annular space between the basket and the outer easing. Having now fully described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by .Letters Patent is l. In a centrifugal machine, a receptaclev rotatably mounted, and having a perforated wall, and provided at its upper end with an inwardly projecting, annular flange having openings, cups carried by said flange, adapted to direct a current of air into said receptacle, and means to rotate said receptacle.

In a centrifugal machine, a receptacle rotatably mounted and having a perforated wall, and provided with an open end, the open end of said receptacle having an inwardly projecting, annular flange provided with means to direct a current of air into said receptacle, an outer casing within which said receptacle is mounted, and provided with inlet and discharge ports, and means to rotate said receptacle. y f
