The invention is concerned with the display of additional characters in screens of cathode ray tubes, through appropriate transmission on one or more other display devices (Daughter devices) are to be reproduced. This task arises, for example, during transmission of radar screens from one observatory to one or more others locally separate bodies. Here it is often necessary to specialize a target appearing on the radar screen to be able to designate by giving the target in question so-called tactical signs, for example Assigns wedges, circles or even numbers or letters, which are then transferred to the Daughter devices appear and facilitate the recognition and tracking of the so marked target. Here it is particularly necessary that these characters are added as quickly as possible and likewise can be deleted quickly.
To solve this problem, an arrangement has become known in which the scanning of the superimposed Characters on the screen of the first device are made by inserting these characters in for the Fluorescent light of the screen of opaque form on the screen itself or immediately in front of it applied to this and a fixed photodetector is arranged in front of the screen, whose output signal corresponds to the respective intensity of the fluorescent radiation of the screen and is added to the video signal of the daughter devices that are operated synchronously with the primary device. At a Another known arrangement, this procedure is modified in such a way that the radar image of the Mother device is written with brightness reversal, so that the background is lighter and the Targets are shown dark.
In the given context, for example, a photocell or a secondary electron multiplier can be used as the photodetector with the associated electrical and optical auxiliary equipment. When the term photodetector is used in the following it should be used as a collective term for all suitable photoelectric devices or light-sensitive devices Organs are understood.

Ferner können infolge des Nachleuchtens des Bildschirmes des Erstgerätes im Bild der Tochtergeräte nicht nur bei bewegten, sondern auch bei stehenden Zielen Verwaschungen auftreten.ao gradation distortions can occur, and it can - if the daughter devices the video signal should, for example, receive only in the above-mentioned way - small or weak image details get lost. Furthermore, as a result of the afterglow of the screen of the first device in the image of the Daughter devices not only with moving targets, but also with stationary targets.
The arrangement according to the invention has the advantage over the known arrangements that Under no circumstances - regardless of whether the additional characters to be displayed are positive or negative - parts of the video signal on the detour via the mother device to the daughter devices can get. It also has the advantage that you can use it even when the room is bright gets a good signal-to-noise ratio.
This is achieved in that electronic switches are provided, on the one hand, on the screen of the first device to write only every second image line with the modulation of the video signal and the lines in between for scanning the characters to be faded in with increased basic brightness to write and on the other hand in the output signal of the photodetector those signal periods which correspond to the image lines written with the video signals.
About that a housing 3 containing a photocell 4 is suspended at such a distance that the The image area of the viewing device 2 is freely accessible from all sides and the photocell is not the viewer with special needs. To with the greatest possible elimination of the scattered light originating from the room lighting to let as much light as possible reach the photocell from the surface of the screen you provide lens or mirror arrangements in a known manner, which either the screen surface image on the surface of the light-sensitive organ of the photodetector or the one coming from there To allow light to reach the entire surface of the light-sensitive organ as a bundle of rays. However, such arrangements require a considerable optical effort, and it has been contrasted proven to be useful to place a funnel with a mirror on the inside in front of the photo element, whose surfaces are curved or inclined in such a way that that originating from the surface of the screen Light essentially reaches the base of the funnel (surface of the photocell), while that of the Scattered light resulting from room lighting is reflected outwards. Tests have shown that already a corresponding inclination from flat mirror surfaces in the form of a truncated pyramid built-up funnel, as indicated in the drawing by 5, a gain in light output brings a factor of 10.
It is now assumed that on the screen of the tube 1 in the traditional manner a radar image is generated, but the basic brightness of the image is set so that the otherwise dark areas of the screen, even if weak fluorescent light is produced. You write now, for example with a bold pen, any characters on the screen or on one immediately The glass plate attached above this covers the fluorescent light for the photo element at these points. The photocell installed opposite the screen now gives the signal in a known manner Fluctuations in brightness caused by the radar image signal itself and the covering of the screen with the written characters. The output signal of the photocell is via a mixer added to the video signal of the daughter devices, so that on their screen not only the radar targets but also the characters on the screen of the mother device become visible.
In contrast to this known procedure, in the context of the invention, the image recording and Scanning process separated by using electronic switches on the screen of the The mother device only modulates every other radius with the video signal, while the ones in between are modulated Writes radii with increased basic brightness and these radii for scanning the characters used. In the output signal of the amplifier, those signal periods that correspond to the video signals correspond to written radii, locked.
It is also useful in the arrangement according to the invention, the output signal of the photodetector to pass in a known manner through a differentiating stage before it is added to the video signal of the daughter devices will.
