If Cowboys fans want quarterback depth at the top of Thursday’s draft or Ezekiel Elliott wearing a star on his helmet, they’ll be gravely disappointed as team owner Jerry Jones said Monday those positions will not be a Day 1 priority.

The draft’s top two QBs — Jared Goff and Carson Wentz — are expected to be gone in the first two picks, leaving Dallas with a slew of possibilities at No.4.

Jones told reporters he plans to stick with his pick, but finding Tony Romo’s successor is “certainly not a high enough priority to make a bad decision or a forced decision."

As for Elliott, considered one of the few can’t-miss prospects on the board, Jones said the Cowboys aren’t in a “have to” situation when it comes to addressing the running back position.

If the Cowboys decide to take a stab at either of those positions, especially QB, look for a move on Day 2 of the draft when second-tier guys like Christian Hackenberg or Dak Prescott are likely available.

"There are some guys at the top of the draft who are certainly intriguing, but I think what's interesting to me about this is that there are guys throughout the draft that are intriguing,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “I think you can conceivably take a quality quarterback in each of the rounds and at all different levels of the draft."
