Aston Villa are in negotiations with Lyngby Boldklub about a new partnership that could save the Danish Superliga club from bankruptcy, Sky Sports News understands.
The potential partnership would also aim to nurture young talent both in England and Denmark.
Villa are not understood to be putting any money into the venture, but are offering expert advice on the deal and a football tie-up between the two clubs. The finance is being put forward by a separate, as-yet-unnamed investment company.
Lyngby have not won the Danish Superliga title since 1992 and their chairman says the club is now in such a poor state financially that they cannot afford to put the under-soil heating on at the stadium.
But Villa see the opportunity of using Lyngby as a feeder club so their youngsters get the chance to gain experience abroad, while they can also tap into Denmark's rich pool of talented players who can, in turn, move to Villa.
Lyngby are currently 12th in the 14-team Superliga table, despite finishing third last campaign, and competed in the qualifying stages of the Europa League at the beginning of this season.
