No word on any injuries in the Monday evening incident.

THUNDER BAY -- Emergency crews are investigating a small-plane crash at Thunder Bay Airport, a district chief confirmed to Dougall Media on Monday night.

Pictures taken just before dusk on Monday night show flames shooting from the small aircraft on the airport's runway.

Several passengers on at least one Air Canada flight to Thunder Bay reported on social media channels their plane was turned back to Toronto after the incident occurred.

There is no word on any injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
