Raiders week 4 snap counts vs Broncos: Amari Cooper sees nearly every snap, gets outshined by every other receiver on roster

With Michael Crabtree not playing with a chest injury, the team needed Amari Cooper to shake off his early season slump and return to being the Pro Bowl receiver he was his first two seasons. He did not.

Coop played a season high 98% of the snaps, missing just one. In his 53 snaps, he was targets 8 times, catching two passes for 9 yards. He also had his 7th drop of the season, which still leads all receivers by a wide margin. And the final pass of the game went to him where he was out jumped and out muscled by Broncos’ safety Justin Simmons for the interception to end it.

It was Seth Roberts who got the start in place of Crabtree, catching 4 passes on 5 targets for 49 yards. Cordarrelle Patterson saw a season high 33 snaps (62%) and he led the team with 6 catches on 6 targets. Leading the team in receiving yards was Johnny Holton who picked up 64 yards on one long ball touchdown. It was the first touchdown catch of his career.

Passes to Cooper: 2 of 8 (25%) with an interception.
Passes to all other wideouts: 11 of 12 (91%) with a touchdown.

So, yeah, Amari Cooper may have led the team in snaps, but every other Raiders receiver on the field outplayed him considerably.

Sean Smith saw his snaps jump up to season high 60 snaps (94%) due to Gareon Conley being inactive and David Amerson exiting the game with a concussion. But it was TJ Carrie who led the corners, playing every snap and giving up just one catch for 10 yards in the process.
