Confirmed: Coventry City have terminated this loan transfer

Coventry City news transfer sees striker return to Sky Blues

What Sky Blue fans will be thinking ahead of AFC Wimbledon clash

Jordan Ponticelli has returned to Coventry City from his loan at Macclesfield Town.

The striker joined the Silkmen on a season-long loan deal in August in a move intended to provide regular football.

But Ponticelli’s progress has been restricted by injuries and he’s made only four appearances for the League Two side, including a single start.

Mark Robins previously confirmed that the latest injury, a suspected re-fracture of the foot, meant that the 20-year-old was recovering back at Ryton.

Now, City have formally ended Ponticelli's spell at Moss Rose and he could come into Robins’ plans for the second half of the season.

That decision will be determined by how successful he is in recruiting more fire power to his goal-shy attack in the January transfer window.

Speaking ahead of the window, Robins said: "We need goal scorers and he’s a goal scorer.

“The idea was to get him out and play but for one reason or another he’s had his injury and that’s why he’s not performed for them.
