Former MLA Kevin Falcon joins BC Liberal leadership race

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – A big name has joined the BC Liberal leadership race. Former Surrey-Cloverdale MLA Kevin Falcon has declared his intentions during a Facebook Live event Monday evening.

Falcon had been teasing the event on Twitter with photos of the words “Ready?” then “Set…” then “Let’s Go.”

Falcon, a former Campbell-era cabinet minister, was in charge of transportation from 2004 to 2009. Falcon also spent time as ministers of health and finance.

So far, the only declared candidates in the race are Skeena MLA Ellis Ross and business person Gavin Dew.

Falcon finished second to Christy Clark in the 2011 race for the party’s top job and quit politics two years later. He will be running to replace Andrew Wilkinson, who stepped down last November, not long after the last provincial election.
