HAMDEN, CT — "Idiot," "incompetent" and "liar" were the top three words that people used to describe President Donald Trump in the latest Quinnipiac University Poll.
Respondents were asked to think of the first word that came to mind when they think of Trump, and the results were less than flattering. "Idiot" came in at number one with 39 responses, followed by 31 for "incompetent" and 30 for "liar."
Among some of the more positive or neutral responses were "leader" with 25 responses, "president" with 22 and "strong" with 21. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)
The poll also found his approval rating to be 36 percent. His approval rating was 40 percent in an April 19 survey.
Surveyors also found that Trump is losing support among key groups including white men and white voters with no college degree.
"The erosion of white men, white voters without college degrees and independent voters, the declaration by voters that President Donald Trump's first 100 days were mainly a failure and deepening concerns about Trump's honesty, intelligence and level headedness are red flags that the administration simply can't brush away," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
