Black cat invades Premier League game, refuses to leave field

The Premier League game between Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers came to a brief halt Saturday when a black cat took the field around the 67-minute mark. It’s unclear how the cat found its way onto the field (or even in the stadium), but it obviously wanted to be part of the game at Goodison Park in Liverpool.

Uninterested in leaving the field and not intimidated by the crowd, the cat delightfully wandered around, inspecting the goal and sidelines as it took a little tour around the pitch.

Maybe it just wanted to offer some sideline analysis, finish officiating the game or give Everton a hand, since it was down, 3-1 — the eventual final score.

The best part here is that as the cat ran sideline to sideline, none of the players or officials seemed willing to try and help the cat escape the field.

Since they all just stood around watching the newest feline soccer star scamper around, maybe they’re all wildly superstitious. Or, as the announcers put it, perhaps no one wants to embarrass themselves trying (and probably failing) to chase the cat down.
