Can anyone confirm if it has aptX (HD)? I can't find any information about it in the specs, beside saying it has HD Audio and A2DP.

I know Android Oreo allows you to manually select the bleutooth codec in the developer options, but wondering if it does support it.
    Skyfa11oo7 and NSchuyler like this.

I'm not holding my breath on good audio for this device. I desperately wanted stereo speakers. The volume on KEYone is terrible. I saw a preview video where they said it's mono speakers again but "a bit louder." Whatever that means.

Maybe the K3 for the stereo speakers

Oreo supports a range of BT codecs. I think it'll include LDAC even if aptx HD is not supported.

I went out of my way to make sure the last pair of cans I bought had aptX HD, really hoping it has it.

Oreo supports aptx natively (allegedly) and so does the 660 SoC. Unless TCL / BlackBerry have deliberately avoided it, I would expect the Key2 to support it also. It is somewhat concerning though, that they have not listed it in the K2 specs.

They did avoid QC4, when the processor supports it. And indeed never mentioned aptX, so I am curious.. Oreo does support it, but as far as I understand they should include the bluetooth chipset for aptX (HD). Hope anyone can confirm this!

It's fine, even the audio on some premium phones is suck too.. For e.g. The galaxy s9 plus.. From the review I watched, the keytwo has louder speaker than the s9 plus.

How do you enable it? Is an automatic process or there is an option somewhere in the audio menu?

I have a couple of receivers HD APtX compatible and I woul be glad to test out the results..

Woah, all early indicators were that it didn't have it. I am pretty pumped about this.... howver Qualcomm does not list HD for the 660, just AptX. It also lists LDAC. I think that sight is just listing everything Orea can do, it won't have those CODEC's unless they were explicitly licensed from Qalcomm by TCL/BBM. So now I am questioning the accuracy of this site...

Can anyone vouch for this site?

Edit: so that site lists the Z30 without Apt X, but it definitely had it, even qualcomm's site lists the Z30 as an aptX phone: https://www.aptx.com/products/blackb...z30-smartphone. So I am dubious of the Key2 have HD. While Qalcomm itself says the K2 has neither: https://www.aptx.com/products?field_..._brand_tid=155

You are right. I am very curious if anyone could test it on the KEY2 to find out if it has aptx or not. Anyone out there with the KEY2 and aptx device?

I have an aptx arcam reciever but how would I know if the phone is using aptx? Reciever will just default to an inferior protocol if aptx isn't supported on key2 and I'd be none the wiser. No way of really telling just by listening cos the arcam device tends to make everything sound great.

Switch on Developer options. Will allow manual selection of the BT codec.

Annoyingly it allows me to select aptx but when I leave developer options then go back in it has reverted to the system default codex.

When connecting with a aptx device for the first time, there should be a box saying: 'Use high quality audio: aptX'. Else if you go to your bluetooth list and tap on the 'settings' icon next to it, it should list the same box.
