Confirmed: Josh Rosen sure does throw a pretty ball

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins’ quarterback competition is off and running — the team just wrapped up their first full week of organized team activities (OTAs). And while we’re no closer to getting a resolution to whether Josh Rosen or Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the call to start Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, it was nice to see some glimpses of these two first-year Dolphins in action.

No, we’re not talking about Rosen’s fumbled snap during the team’s second day of OTAs — which was laughably blown up into a huge deal. The quarterback/center exchange requires some chemistry and it’s a pretty safe bet that almost every quarterback in the history of football has fumbled at least one snap with a new center.

But seeing these two let the ball rip, like they each hope to do on Sundays this fall? It’s fun. And boy, does watching Josh Rosen throw the ball around inspire the imagination. Rosen throws a pretty football.

An offer for Dolphins fans

For the record, this guarantees Rosen nothing at the next level. Pretty footballs are still turnovers if the defense catches them. But considering Rosen’s talent level and his reputation entering the league one year ago, it’s going to be impossible for Dolphins fans to not get excited about what he can be if things go right here in South Florida.

That is months down the road, though. For now, the Miami faithful will be content to let their imaginations run wild based on some highlights as the team feeds them to us.
