Now that Christy’s gone, Ben Stewart wants his seat back

Ben Stewart wants his seat back and is seeking the B.C. Liberal nomination in Kelowna West.

The former Liberal MLA gave up his seat to Christy Clark when she lost her riding in the 2013 election.

Shortly after, Clark appointing Stewart as B.C’s Commissioner of Trade and Investment — a position he held for three years.

Clark stepped down as leader of the Liberal party last week after being ousted as premier by an NDP/Green Party coalition.

Now that Clark is out of the picture, Stewart says he wants to regain the seat.

“It is critical that we continue to address trade barriers and remain competitive both at home and abroad,” Stewart said in a news release.” At a time of instability with softwood lumber, NAFTA, and other trade uncertainties, Kelowna West requires experienced and qualified leadership.”
