Newlyweds are replacing their bands with wedding ring TATTOOS in bizarre new trend
Couples are going under the needle to symbolise their love - and some of the designs are pretty out there
A BIZARRE new trend is seeing newlyweds shun traditional wedding bands in favour of ring TATTOOS.
Last year David Beckham showed off a new inking on his wedding ring finger as he supported wife Victoria in New York during fashion week.
The trend appears to have caught on, as devoted couples are showing their love with wedding finger etchings ranging from Roman numeral dates to their other half's initials.
More unusual designs include matching Star Wars tattoos, his and hers skeltons, hashtags, elaborate diamonds and male and female lions wearing crowns.
Meanwhile others kept it simple, opting for a plain, thin black band.

Speaking about their reasons for getting their fingers tattoos, one wife explained she and her husband were "rubbish" at wearing their wedding rings.
Tristi Barlow wrote on Instagram: "Because of work or how active we are with hobbies or whatever was going on, we never really wore them. Very rarely these days actually.
"We started talking about wedding ring finger tattoos a few years ago, which is definitely more our style anyway, and we finally took the jump and got them tonight.
"His ship wheel and my compass rose. They are just perfect for us, we absolutely love them."
