Jennifer Lopez Shares Rare New Pic of Child Emme & Gives a Clue to the Low-Key Way They’re Celebrating Spring Break

Jennifer Lopez is keeping things chill for spring break. She just posted a rare new photo with her 16-year-old child Emme, and it shows the casual way they are celebrating this time off school.

“Spring break,” the The Greatest Love Story Never Told star captioned the photo on Instagram. She is in New York City with Emme and one of Emme’s friends, and they are all three enjoying ice cream.

J. Lo is wearing a coat with glasses as she smiles next to what looks like vanilla ice cream in a cone. The friend is in the middle, with ice cream in a bowl, and Emme is on the other side, holding a chocolate-dipped cone and smiling with a baseball cap, a green jacket, and big headphones around their neck. They all looked so happy and relaxed with their afternoon treat, and it just goes to show the simple things in life mean the most!

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream … and that’s kind of the same thing,” one person commented on the cute selfie.

Earlier this week, the “Rebound” singer took Emme to a performance of Merrily on Broadway, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez. “A Merry Sunday @merrilyonbway,” she captioned the post, which included a picture of her hugging Emme and a video of Emme and friends saying “Merrily” with Groff.

Lopez shares twins Emme and Max with ex Marc Anthony. They celebrated their 16th birthday last month, and Lopez shared a video of the trio going on a special trip to Japan together. “Happy birthday to my coconuts,” she wrote at the end. “I love you.”

In a May 2023 appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, Lopez opened up about what it’s like to raise teenagers (including husband Ben Affleck’s kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, who he shares with ex Jennifer Garner). “The teenage years are tough,” she said, per PEOPLE. “It’s challenging. You have this baby for a while and then it’s like, your best little friend who loves being with you all the time, and then all of a sudden it’s like, ‘Get out of my room.'”

Lopez continued, “It’s a time when they are individuating, and they are challenging everything you say and everything you do and everything you are, and that’s what it is. And you have to kind of just ride the waves. I feel like it’s surfing. I’m riding the waves, and then it’s like, ‘Oops, I just got knocked over!’ Now, I’m back, I’m back!”

It seems like J. Lo is navigating the waters of teenage-hood well right now if her latest ice cream selfie is any indication. Such a sweet bonding moment!
