This is just an imaginary book that I mocked up.

It never existed in reality – which I think is a real shame, as I’d LOVE to have seen a ‘Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ embellished throughout by the great Pauline Baynes. I’m thinking simple black and white line drawings throughout, much like her magical ‘Narnia’ drawings.

I created this mock-up using some of the illustrations from Bilbo’s Last Song which is full of some lovely little details, I guess it’s the closest thing we have to a Pauline Baynes ‘Hobbit’ edition.

We do also have The Adventures of Tom Bombadil of course which is also magnificent.

Tolkien Fonts

The font I've used for all the headings on this site is called Tolkienesque New and is inspired by the calligraphy of J.R.R.Tolkien himself. It has an extended character set and looks lovely even at very small sizes. You can find it, and my other Tolkien fonts, here.

Sorry, but I don't offer valuations. If you own this item yourself, and want to find out what it's worth, then the best advice I can give is to check eBay completed items to see if one similar has been sold recently.
