TRUEDOM GOOD NEWS FLASH: IF YOU DO NOT NOW LOVE RIDING YOUR BIKE, THEN WAIT NO LONGER BIKES ARE SURE LOOKING GOOD IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. JUST AS I WAS BROWSING AROUND THE WILD WEST WEB, I CAME ACROSS THIS VIDEO ON HOW BEAUTIFUL VANCOUVER IS RIDING ALONG YOUR NEW FUTURE BIKE. LOOKING SO COOL JUST RIDING ALONG MY BLUE GO GREEN, MY DREAM BIKE, SEEING ALL THE HUGE TREES & HOW DIFFERENT THEY ARE LOOKS GREAT TO LIVE IN A FOREST AS I DO. RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE OUR CHERRY BLOSSOMS BLOOMING AWAY. OUR EASTER WEEKEND HERE IN VANCOUVER IS THE BEGINNING OF OUR HOTTER-THAN-NORMAL. I REMEMBER MANY YEARS GONE BY. YES, CLIMATE CHANGE IS HAPPENING HERE MUCH FASTER THAN IN ANY OTHER PROVINCE WHY, & I COULD SEE BETTER DAYS AHEAD. Guilbeault criticizes premiers pushing to end carbon pricing in Canada: 'not the solution' Canada's Minister of Environment & Climate Change Steven Guilbeault. Somewhere between a bicycle & a motorcycle, the Electrom 1 offers a totally new electric vehicle experience that, equipped with a laid-back riding position, is the perfect way to whizz around a city. Ricky Roy went to Vancouver to take a ride and see if this really is the answer to future urban mobility. However, with such a new proposition for a company in its infancy, costly (drum roll please!), meaning that this motorbike contraption comes in at around $12,500. As volumes increase and the economy of scales allows, we are hopeful we will see this number plummet to the single figures! 00:00 Intro 00:40 How does it work? 01:20 Design 02:06 Rider position 04:19 Weight distribution 05:58 Starting and stopping 06:32 Suspension 07:09 Speed 08:26 Controls 09:21 Rider perspective 10:10 Maintenance 10:58 How much? Good: This article has tips for how to cycle in the snow and freezing temperatures so that you can keep riding in the winter. Bad: #Cyclists are presumed to be responsible for avoiding crashes at night, rather than the motorists who hit them. Also, there’s no mention of the responsibility of #governments to provide safe #infrastructure to protect those on #bikes from those in #cars. https://lnkd.in/dY-9kWFD (khp)

This report has been some time in the making, but the results are some of the clearest insights into mobility, business and public private partnership that I have ever been involved in. The power of benchmarking is not just to create rankings, but to give every city a view of what is possible, today, with existing technologies, budgets and policies. Every city can find areas for improvement, every citizen can ask the question "Is my city really delivering cycling as public transport" and policy makers can make independent assessments of the success of cities in implementing the smart, sustainable mobility transition. Exciting stuff - join us on 26th September.
🚀 🚀 First time! Benchmarking bike sharing in 148 EU cities - join the launch and secure your spot! 🚲 Who are the top-ranking cities in bike sharing in Europe? 🚲 What are the key performance indicators for a successful scheme? 🚲 How to improve your city ranking? CIE's new study is a powerful tool for cities and policymakers to identify the potential for bike sharing highlighting key performance indicators for a successful scheme. Join the experts on Tuesday, 26 September at 3PM CEST for this unique session and register now! I know.. they say he can be there, it’s all ok and without a bike lane he can ‘use the road’. It appears he is going very fast.. I wonder, what are the brakes and components rated to? Im sure those brakes can’t handle mass and momentum for extended periods and friction could well be the winner at the end of the day. Still think it’s ok to tangle on the road with bigger vehicles? Hmm, sense and sensibility.. it’s an important factor in managing safety. I still think, there re places cyclists shouldn’t be - unless they have a death wish. Their bikes are not motorbikes that have a fighting chance of getting out if the way and keeping up with the flow if traffic and whose components are built to take braking for longer periods on hills (but be aware, extended use of brakes in anything and they can fail - trucks have proven this time and time again but their weights mean if used incorrectly failure can and does happen). I just can’t see how bike brakes are built for this and I’m sure on downhill mountain bike challenges they are upgraded - I will ask when I’m passing a bike shop later today..
