5 Places to View the Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset

One landmark that has become synonymous with the city of San Francisco and its skyline is the Golden Gate Bridge. Visitors from all over come to catch a glimpse of this iconic structure that dominates the city’s landscape and character. Witnessing the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset is an even more spectacular event where the colors of the sky meet the colors of San Francisco’s classic landmark. Fort Point

Gain a new perspective of the bridge at Fort Point by viewing the Golden Gate Bridge down below. Take a seat at the water’s edge and gaze up at the bridge with the sun setting behind for a spectacular and unforgettable show. This unique vantage point allows onlookers to not only admire the beauty of the area and the architecture of the bridge.

Hawk Hill

A bit further up from Battery Spencer, Hawk Hill is a nearly 1,000-foot peak in the Marin Headlands that offers unwavering views of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. Its high perch allows for an expansive view of the surrounding landscape and of course unobstructed views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Baker Beach

Take a stroll along the shores of the Pacific Ocean for the ultimate sunset viewpoint. Joined with a rugged cliff line and the crashing waves this is one of the best places to view the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. With several outlook points offering a different perspective of the bridge, there is also a great place to have an evening picnic as you watch the sun dip behind the skyline. Do note that the northernmost section of the beach is clothing optional.

Lands End

To gain more of a distance perspective of the Golden Gate Bridge, head out to Lands End. Set back about three miles from the bridge, this viewpoint highlights the wide-open sea and rugged wilderness of the coast. Spend the afternoon hiking the nearby Eagle’s Point trailhead and end the day with a relaxing view of the sunset.
