Yes, Valentine’s Day might be a Hallmark holiday, but it happens to be one of my favorites for kids for a variety of reasons. First of all, any day that encourages us to show our love to those around us is a winner in my book! Secondly, the expectations are pretty low for this holiday. Although we typically give our kids a new Valentine’s Day coupon book, they don’t have any expectations for gifts, which makes surprising them even more fun!

I love creating non candy Valentines for my kids each year based on their current interests. Over the years we have done a Rocket Valentine when my son was obsessed with space, Pen Valentines for my son who loves art, Mustache Valentines, Magnifying Glass Valentines, Punch Balloon Valentines, Tic Tac Toe Valentines,a John 3:16 Valentine for Sunday School and Minnie Mouse Valentines for my daughter.

Soccer Valentines

This year my oldest son requested soccer valentines, so I found these inexpensive soccer ball missiles for him to give out to his classmates. We really wanted to do either soccer stress balls or soccer bouncy balls, but the missiles were most cost effective with the size of his class.

I created printable gift tags that you can fold and staple to the top of a clear cellophane bag. We used cellophane bags that measured 5.5 inches at the top opening.
