Impeccable was acquired by the U.S. Navy and placed into service on November 1, 2001.  Serving as an ocean surveillance ship with the Military Sealift Command, she uses the AN/UQQ-2 Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) sonar systems to search and detect any undersea threat.  In March 2009, Impeccable was conducting routine survey operations in international waters in the South China Sea when she was harassed by numerous Chinese vessels.    Eventually, the destroyer, USS Chung Hoon, (DDG-93),was dispatched to protect the surveillance ship.    On July 19, 2015, the combined civilian and military crew members rescued 11 fishermen while en-route for a scheduled port visit to Subic Bay, Luzon, Philippines.   Impeccable is still in service with the Military Sealift Command.
