Usually my reality show habit remains limited to whatever is on vh-1 or Bravo, but I have veered over to other channels to check out two new programs focused on child beauty pageants (Toddlers & Tiaras, Little Miss Perfect). And frankly, I'm kinda disturbed…
The creepy masters of ceremony singing about citrus-colored rainbows, the obsessed and emotional moms, and, of course the young girls, who are transformed with mind-boggling amounts of makeup, tanner, hairspray, sequins and fringe into, essentially, miniature women. But while their appearance is bizarre, the way they are trained to walk with their nonexistent hips swinging, and pose and dance in a suggestive manner, is downright creepy.
*Has anyone else seen either of these new pageant-focused shows? If not, how do you feel about child beauty pageants in general? Am I the only one who is creeped out? *
