We start the new year with another look at the new Shangri-La Toronto hotel and condo that's rising at the northwest corner of University and Adelaide. Here glass continues to rise on the south side of what will be a 65 storey building. The project, which is set to open in 2012, is definitely one we look forward to seeing rise.

Developed by Vancouver based Westbank Corp, the building was designed by Vancouver's James Cheng in partnership with Toronto based Hariri Pontarini Architects. Interesting tidbit. The excavation for Shangri-La is the second deepest in Toronto history. Only Scotia Plaza was deeper.
