From the Vaults – Hogs & Heifers Saloon New York
The original Hogs & Heifers Saloon opened its doors in New York City November of ’92, and quickly became the place to be in the meatpacking district of Manhattan! Hogs & Heifers Saloon New York was a classic country and southern rock-n-roll dive bar. The NY location had the look of an old gin mill with “stuff” all over the walls and ceiling. With the popularity and success of the original location, it was only natural for Hogs to open up another bar, enter the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas! In 2005, Hogs & Heifers Saloon Las Vegas was born!!
For years, both locations thrived as owner Michelle split time between Sin City and NY. Unfortunately, the New York City location had to close its doors in 2015 due to drastically rising rent. The popularity of Hogs NY helped build up the surrounding neighborhood, and thus brought in big-time money and real estate development. When this happens, the new money coming in rarely cares about the history of what’s been there. So just like that, Hogs Las Vegas was the remaining location of the saloon.
Hogs owner Michelle is a collector. If you ever got to see the walls of the saloon in New York, consider yourself lucky. The interior of that bar was a work of art, and unlike any place you’ve ever seen. Once the saloon closed, Michelle kept everything – and by everything, we mean EVERYTHING! 23 years of printed pictures and art work, bras, unique gifts, stickers, signage, she even cut the pay phone out of the fuckin’ wall. One may wonder where all this shit is now, it’s in Vegas baby! Some of it’s stored away, some items made it onto the walls of our Vegas saloon, and then lots of it is at Michelle’s house. Walking around in her place feels like you’re getting a tour of the museum of Hogs!
Along with keeping everything she could from the interior of the bar in New York, Michelle also held onto leftover retail items that were designed specifically for Hogs NY. This is TONS OF COOL, LIMITED, ONE-OF-A-KIND SHIT!! Items we’ve been holding onto for years. For the first time ever, we’re offering some of these items for sale!
We can’t wait for our New York fans to see what we have! Since what we have left is extremely rare, and will never be produced again, we’re going to be releasing most of these items one at a time. I have two jackets from hogs and heifers that have never been worn. Shot glasses whiskey flask. Hats and even a security t-shirt thats never been worn. Have had this before the vages bar opened . Glad to have held on to it .
