Sceloporus tristichus (Utah), 09 June 2011

Sceloporus tristichus, the Plateau fence lizard;
San Juan county, Utah (09 June 2011).
AK2FL (Mile 4064):

Skipping out west for a click, here’s a Plateau fence lizard from Canyonlands National Park back in 2011. Though I didn’t see too many snakes during the great Alaska-to-Florida roadtrip of Summer 2011, I did come across a staggering number of lizards — many of which were species entirely new to me. As for this one, the Plateau fence lizard is somewhat similar to both the Eastern fence lizard (Sceloporus undulatus) and the Florida scrub lizard (Sceloporus woodi), two species I know well from my home territory in the American Southeast.
