Today, Kosovo is celebrating its Independence Day, exactly 14 years since its declared full sovereignty from Serbia.
High-ranking state officials including president Vjosa Osmani, PM Albin Kurti, Speaker of Parliament Glauk Konjufca and members of Kosovo’s Security Force, raised the national flag before the prime minister’s office.
President Osmani declared that on this day, Albanians need to celebrate but at the same time she called for unity in order to make Kosovo a successful sovereign nation.
Albanian government official including president Ilir Meta, PM Edi Rama, head of the opposition Lulzim Basha and others, gave separate statements this morning, wishing Kosovo’s Independence Day!
Kosovo declared its independence on February 17, 2008 and until now a total of 117 countries around the world have recognized it as a sovereign state.
