"Dead leaves"

Remedios Varo (i) - Surrealism (i)
Remedios Varo, original name, María de los Remedios Alicia Rodriga Varo y Uranga, was a Spanish-Mexican para-surrealist painter and anarchist, who played an integral role in the Mexico City-based Surrealist movement. Dead Leaves ( Les feuilles mortes) created in 1956 is a surrealist painting that features a young woman with long red hair and a figure with a hollow chest of vacant halls and infinite probabilities: death, rebirth, and eternity. Varo is known for her surrealist imagery of androgynous figures and shadows engaged in mystical arts; her paintings although mysterious and illusory also include motifs like machinery, furnishing, artifacts, and Romanesque and Gothic architecture, setting her distinctive style apart.
