Swords

Well aren’t you lovely guys and girls in for a treat. TWO BLOGS IN A ROW BY RORY!!!!! I know, I’m as shocked as you are. But here we are.

This week’s adventure was one with a twist and easily one of my favourites I must say. We decided to kill two birds with one stone (no birds were harmed BY US in the making of this story) . Our good friend and loyal Burger Club follower Louise invited us over to hers for a games night last Saturday night (isn’t she so nice?) . We decided since we would all be going that way, we could do Burger Club on the way.  Now, her being from the Swords area we had to find a place to go. In my mind there was no other option other than a trip to see the meat-loving folk over in Hogs & Heifers…..but there was a snag as work times and crap got in the way,  until some genius asked if they did a take away option…..which they did. YAAAAAAY!!!

At this point I have to say a big big thank you to Louise’s mam who so generously collected this for us as we were all busy getting lost trying to find their house. Especially since she had to carry this lot to the car.

Now what we have here is..

6 burgers

3 sharing chips

4 desserts

BURGERS

For me, this was the best burger I have had since we started Dublin Burger Club. I got the Skyscraper burger and by God did it live up to the name. I couldn’t get the thing in my mouth, even after punching it down. I had to nibble around it like a hamster for the first while before I could get a proper big bite. But when I did, the flavours just exploded.

Skyscraper– 16oz Secret H&H Recipe Hand Made Beef Burger, House Relish, Rocket Leaves, Malted Cheddar, Beef Tomato, Toasted Brioche Bap and Steak House Onions.

The Ruben was described to me as very spicy with a mix of ingredients that were unusual but go together very well, as if someone actually did some research as to which would complement each other.

H&H Ruben Burger– 8oz Secret H&H Recipe Hand Made Beef Burger, Pastrami, Sauerkraut, Melted Cheddar, Russian Dressing, House Relish, Rocket Leaves.

The  chicken burger was described to me as being cooked to perfection, which I’m told is very hard to find in a lot of places as people tend to overcook it and it ends up dry. Toppings again were spot on.

H&H Chicken Burger– Grilled Chicken Fillet, Baby Gem, Melted Cheddar, Garlic & Thyme Mayo, Beef Tomato, Steakhouse Onions

The burgers were cooked to perfection. Charred a little on the outside but soft and juicy on the inside.

One bun was a little charred on the inside, and there was no mention on the menu that the relish on the Ruben burger was so spicy, which forced one of the group to only eat half their burger as they don’t like spice.

SIDES

Sides-wise we all should have got hand cut fries with our burgers but instead we got 3 portions of fries which we weren’t too happy about as they came to very little when divided up between the 6 of us. Now as they came in take away containers they were a bit soft and soggy which some didn’t find too appealing but I ate them, and they were still seriously tasty. Looking at them I was not expecting much but I couldn’t stop eating them.

DESSERTS

I was made very happy by the fact they had banoffee on the dessert menu and that is exactly what I and three others got, while Amanda went with vanilla cream profiteroles. It was a 50/50 split as to liking the banoffee. I thought it was a decent one tho. The profiteroles went down a storm too.

CONCLUSION

This is a place that has been on my radar for a long time but I never got to and it did not disappoint. The fact they had a take away option was great and to top it all off, for the month of January they have a deal on where all burgers are just €10!!! Mine alone was €18 ( which I would totally pay anyway for it) so that’s a good chunk of change saved. I recommend you get down there before the end of the month for some good cheaper burgers.
