Sony PDW-F335 XDCAM not showing up on MBP

Needing some help with a sony xdcam PDW-F335 camera. I am trying to get clips off of the disc in the camera and be able to import them into FCPX for editing.

I have a (early-2015) Macbook Pro with up to date software. With the most recent FAM Device driver as well.

I have the Firewire to thunderbolt adapter and a cable connecting the camera to the computer.

The camera is in FAM mode and When the cable is connected to the computer I see "PC Remote" on the Screen, so i know it is connected.

On the computer when the camera connects I see a pop-up window (see pic below) that tells me The disc you inserted was not readable by this computerUser uploaded file

I click on Initialize and disc utility pops up (see pic below)

User uploaded file

It shows that FAM Media is available as an external media device (see pic below)

I guess what i am trying to figure out is; I know the computer is "talking" to the camera, I just need to know what do i do next? I was under the understanding that once the camera was plugged in to the computer I would show up as an external drive that i could access files off of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
