The Cinesphere at Ontario Place will shut its doors this month to undergo some major renovations and it’s ending this chapter on a high note.

Starting on October 17th, the Cinesphere will close for “necessary dome improvements to bring it back to its original grand appearance,” according to the website.

Before the big transformation begins, the theatre will be screening audience-favourite films to give us a final taste of the movie-going experience we love.

Over the next two weekends, the Cinesphere will be playing iconic flicks like The Dark Knight, Inception, and Blade Runner: 2049.

Below is the complete list of films and their showtimes over the next two weekends.

  • The Dark Knight on October 7th at 7:30 PM
  • Interstellar on October 8th at 7:30 PM
  • Inception on October 9th at 4:00 PM
  • Blade Runner: 2049 on October 14th at 7:30 PM
  • Dune on October 15th at 7:30 PM
  • Arrival on October 16th at 4:00 PM

Given the popularity of these Blockbuster films, you may want to snag your tickets ASAP. Purchasing tickets online in advance is strongly encouraged.

Doors open one hour before the film starts and seats are first come first served, so you may want to arrive early to get the best seat in the house.

While you’re at it, you can reserve one of the waterside fire pits at Ontario Place for some pre or post-show s’mores.

You can purchase your movie tickets on the Ontario Place website here.

We’re sad to see the Cinesphere close for the time being, but we’re excited that it’s finally getting the upgrades it deserves.
