Description

The nearly 38-kilometer long divided causeway is comprised of two 10 meter (m) wide lanes separated by 24 m. The causeway is 9.5 degrees east from true North. Lake Pontchartrain Causeway crosses Lake Pontchartrain heading north from New Orleans in Louisiana.

Usability

The high reflectivity of the bridge contrasts with the Lake Pontchartrain water background, which makes it a suitable line target for medium-resolution satellites (30 m or larger GSD). At resolutions higher than 10-15 m GSD, the bridge structure and features make this less suitable for analyzing Line Spread Function (LSF). Users may wish to consult high-resolution imagery to understand any local changes or features present on the causeway that would impact analysis.
