This BMW Z3 got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1998 BMW Z3 was purchased new by the seller and modified in 2015 for use in track events. The car is powered by a modified 3.2L S52 inline-six mated with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a body-colored hardtop, a carbon-fiber hood and rear wing, a front splitter, a modified suspension with Motion Control dampers, updated brakes with AP Racing front calipers, a roll bar, Recaro fixed-back racing seats, Schroth harnesses, an AiM digital display, Schrick camshafts, Epic Motorsports ECU tuning, and an aftermarket exhaust system. The engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2018, and the rod bearings were replaced in 2019. This Z3 has 53k miles and is offered in Washington with spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Bright Red (314) with #37 racing livery and features a matching hardtop and a vented carbon-fiber hood with external latches. Additional equipment includes a Rieger front spoiler with a removable splitter, dive planes, a carbon-fiber rear wing and fender vents, and rear fender guards. No soft top is installed. The seller notes that the front bumper cover has been refinished, and paint chips and other blemishes are shown in the gallery. The side windows and regulators have been removed and are included in the sale.

Gray 17″ TR Motorsports wheels are mounted with 225/45 front and 245/40 rear Hoosier H2.o rain tires. The suspension and brakes are said to have been modified with the following components:

The cabin has been partially stripped and features Recaro Profi fixed-back racing seats and Schroth 6-point racing harnesses as well as a four-point roll bar with an integrated harness bar. Additional equipment includes a CAE gear shift, aluminum door panels, AC Schnitzer pedals, a cabin heater, and a fire extinguisher mounted in the center console. The seller notes that the harnesses expired in 2018.

The MOMO Jet steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub and fronts a 155-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as an AiM MXS digital display. The digital odometer indicates 53k miles, all of which were added under current ownership. The fuel level gauge is inaccurate.

The replacement S52 3.2L inline-six was built in 2018 by Lang Racing Development of Lake Forest, California, and installed by AR Motorsport of Portland, Oregon. The rod bearings are said to have been replaced in 2019, and modifications reportedly include:

  • Schrick Sport+ 276/270 camshafts
  • Cold air intake system and 68mm throttle body
  • BMW M50 intake manifold
  • Epic Motorsport ECU tuning
  • Mishimoto high-capacity radiator and Vemo slim Euro fan
  • ATI harmonic damper
  • Turner Motorsport short headers
  • Catalytic converter replacement pipe and custom muffler

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which was rebuilt by Lang Racing Development and installed by AR Motorsport in 2018. Additional components reportedly include a limited slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing, an AASCO lightweight flywheel, a Sintered metallic clutch disc, and a Sachs sport pressure plate. Chassis reinforcements consist of a BMW cross-brace with buffer stop, AKG Motorsport “Group N” engine and transmission mounts, and Randy Forbes subframe and differential reinforcements.

Spare parts included in the sale consist of a hardtop stand, side windows, an S52 cylinder head and camshafts, a factory catalytic converter and exhaust system, and four 17″ O.Z. Racing wheels, four TR Motorsports 17″ wheels mounted with BFGoodrich GForce R1 tires, and two spare TR Motorosports wheels.
