This 1978 Ford Mustang II was repowered under previous ownership with a 351ci V8 featuring Keith Black pistons, Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads, a Comp cam, and an air gap intake manifold. The car was refinished in pearl white with Cobra II decals over white and tan upholstery, and is also equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission as well as 14″ aluminum wheels, a raised cowl hood, a four-core aluminum radiator, and a custom 3″ exhaust system. This Mustang II was reportedly acquired by the selling dealer from its second owner, and is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, its original purchase agreement and warranty identification card, and a clean Ohio title.
The car was repainted in pearlescent white with gold Cobra II decals and center stripes under previous ownership, and several in-progress images from the work can be seen in the gallery below. Details include front and rear spoilers, a raised cowl hood, and body-colored impact bumpers. The selling dealer notes bubbles and a missing trim piece around the removable T-top roof panels, one of which also has a crack in its glass. A scratch is also pointed out on the left front fender.
Polished aluminum 14″ disc wheels are mounted with 195/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The front and rear suspension is said to have been refreshed under previous ownership.
Replacement white vinyl seat upholstery features tan cloth inserts and is matched by custom door panels. The car also features a full-length center console, a heater/defroster, and aluminum dash trim. The rear hatch struts have been changed according to the selling dealer.
A Grant GT steering wheel frames a stock tachometer, an inoperable speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 39k miles. Total mileage is unknown. An aftermarket tachometer with a shift light is mounted to the top of the dash and a Sunpro oil pressure gauge to the underside.
The refinished engine bay houses a 351ci V8 that was reportedly modified with a .030″ overbore, Keith Black Hyperlight 10.5:1 pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads with roller rockers, and a Comp Cams Extreme Energy camshaft. Induction is via a four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor on an air-gap intake manifold. A Ron Davis four-core aluminum radiator is cooled by both engine-driven and electric fans.
Exhaust headers with four extended tubes apiece feed a single collector per side, then merge into a 3″ pipe exiting under the rear bumper. A three-speed automatic transmission routes power through a 3.55:1 rear end.
