When 12 year old Lynne Harper was found raped and murdered in June 1959, 14 year old Steven Truscott became the prime suspect after having been the last person to have been with her before her murder.
A few small pieces of circumstantial evidence and heaps of police corruption would led to the boy being convicted of his classmates rape and murder – sentenced to hang at age 14.
The case and trial would become one of the most infamous in Canadian history and was even used as primary motivation for the abolition of the death penalty in 1976.
