Abstract

A traffic signalling system, which includes a plurality of signalling devices arranged along a road, the signalling devices mounted to be visible for road users travelling on the road in the vicinity of the signalling device, each signalling device having visual signalling means for generating a visual warning signal and a signalling device communication interface connectable to a remote central controller for receiving an activation signal from the remote central controller and a central controller having a controller communication interface connectable to the plurality of signalling device communication interfaces, a database in which the location of the plurality of signalling devices may be recorded, processing means for generating a list of affected signalling devices for each of the signalling devices and activation means operable to transmit an activation signal via the controller communication interface to affected signalling devices.
