Abstract

One embodiment of the invention includes a battery sense system. The system (10) includes a temperature sensor (16) configured to measure a temperature (TEMP) of a battery (14) and a memory (18) configured to store predetermined data (20) associated with steady- state and transient behaviors (24, 26) of the battery relative to a depth of discharge (DOD) of the battery. The system(lO) also includes a controller (12) configured to measure a voltage of the battery (14) and to calculate a state of charge (SOC) of the battery based on the voltage, the predetermined data, and the temperature.
