Abstract

A method to reduce the rate of fouling of heat exchangers in a gas phase reactor system operating in condensed mode wherein condensable alkane levels are maintained above 13 wt % based on the weight of the recycle stream, and wherein a catalyst comprising silica, a first aluminum compound, a magnesium halide. a second aluminum compound, an electron donor, and a titanium compound, is used along with an aluminum co-catalyst, the latter being added to the reactor at a rate to provide from 10 to 50 ppm of aluminum based on the polymer production rate.
