Description

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INTRODUCING TUBES INTO THE SOIL
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The device relates to a device for introducing a tube into a soil. The invention particularly relates to such a device comprising a main frame and an auxiliary frame attached to the main frame so as to be movable, particularly tiltable, in a vertical plane, wherein the auxiliary frame is provided with a drive mechanism, particularly a drill motor, for according to an introduction path driving the tube along the auxiliary frame into the soil. The tube to be introduced into the soil is usually built up from lengths of tube, which are kept in store on the device in a magazine on the device. By means of holders such as grippers, the lengths of tube are transferred from the magazine to a position in line with the drive mechanism. It also occurs that the lengths of tube are transferred from a magazine placed adjacent to the device to the auxiliary frame or mast.
From US 5.556.253 among others a magazine is known, which has a number of vertical, adjacently positioned accommodation spaces and a transfer device positioned below it, which moves according to a circular path. The transfer device comprises a gripper situated within a circular wall forming the bottom of the magazine, during and after moving a length of tube from the magazine to the introduction path by means of the gripper.
US 6.543.551 among others also shows an arrangement of a magazine having a gripper rotatable according to a circular path, wherein the magazine itself defines an accommodation space for a series of lengths of tube, which space has the shape of a circular path segment. The gripper each time takes the upper length of tube and takes it from a top opening of the accommodation space to the introduction path by means of continued swinging. DE 101 08 696 among others shows an arrangement in which the accommodation space for the lengths of tube also has the shape of a circular path segment, this time however with closed ends, so that the lengths of tube need to be taken out in axial direction. US 3.181.630 among others shows a tiltable drilling arrangement with a magazine for a number of lengths of tube from which a drill tube can be assembled, wherein the magazine is rotatable about its own axis and as a whole can be swung about an eccentrically positioned column from a storage position to a position in which a length of tube can be aligned with the introduction path.
US 4.445.579 among others shows a vertical drilling arrangement with a magazine for a number of lengths of tube from which a drill tube can be assembled, wherein the magazine is rotatable about its own axis and as a whole can be moved linearly in horizontal direction between a storage position and a position in which a length of tube is aligned with the introduction path.
US 2002/0062994 shows a mobile drilling arrangement for so-called horizontal drilling (also see below) with a magazine for a number of lengths of tube from which a drill tube can be assembled, wherein the magazine is rotatable about its own axis and situated diagonally below the introduction path in front of the drill tube. Lengths of tube are taken out of the magazine by means of a gripper that can be swung about an axis and moved to the introduction path in a swinging motion.
US 4.049.065 regards a mobile drilling arrangement having among others a magazine for a number of lengths of tube for a drill tube, which magazine is rotatable about its own axis and can be shifted in a direction transverse to the introduction path in order to introduce a length of tube in the introduction path. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the invention to provide a device of the type mentioned in the preamble, with which lengths of tube can be kept in store in a reliable and/or controlled manner.
It is an object of the invention to provide a device of the type mentioned in the preamble, with which a reliable and/or controlled supply of lengths of tube is possible.
For that purpose according to one aspect, the invention provides a device for introducing a tube into a soil, comprising a main frame and an auxiliary frame attached to the main frame, which auxiliary frame is attached to the main frame so as to be movable in a vertical plane, particularly tiltable, particularly over an angle of between approximately 0-90 degrees, wherein the auxiliary frame is provided with a drive mechanism for according to an introduction path driving the tube along the auxiliary frame into the soil, wherein the device, particularly the auxiliary frame, is provided with a magazine having a number of accommodation spaces for the lengths of tube from which the tube can be assembled and having means, particularly a drive, for rotating the accommodation spaces, particularly according to a circular path, about a magazine axis that is permanently stationary with respect to the auxiliary frame, particularly according to a circular path, wherein the device is furthermore provided with means, particularly also provided on the auxiliary frame, for transferring a length of tube from an accommodation space of the magazine to a position in line with the introduction path. The lengths of tube are in that case moved by the magazine (or a part thereof) itself over a part of the course of one or more storage positions to the introduction path. A swivelling arm with gripper, like in US 5.556.253 will not be required here. The movement path of the transfer means can be the same all the time. If the auxiliary frame is tiltable and provided with the magazine, the position of the magazine will follow the position of the auxiliary frame and therefore be able to remain the same with respect to the introduction path irrespective of its angle. The magazine itself remains in its place, so that means and guides for the movement of the magazine in a direction towards and from the introduction path are not required. In a compact embodiment the transfer means are situated at a side of the magazine facing the main frame.
In order to enhance the discharge to the transfer means the magazine may comprise a, preferably radial, passage for discharging a length of tube to the operational area of the transfer means, which passage preferably, considered when the magazine is at an acute angle to the horizontal, is situated in a lower area of the magazine or area of the magazine facing the main frame. The magazine (or a part thereof) itself then takes the lengths of tube to the operational area of the transfer means, such as holder.
In a simple embodiment the transfer means are linearly active, preferably according to a substantially tangential plane with respect to the path of the accommodation spaces. The transfer means can then comprise one or more holders for a length of tube, which holders are movable in a plane transverse to the tilting plane of the auxiliary frame. In other words the transfer means can be movable according to a linear path perpendicular to the vertical main plane. The transfer means may comprise one or more U-shaped holders, which with respect to the linear path of the transfer means are tiltable in a plane transverse to the magazine axis. The U-shaped holders may be provided with a leg that is biassed (particularly due to spring force) towards the U- shape of the holder and counter the bias is movable towards a more open position of the U-shaped holder, as a result of which withdrawing the holder after discharge of a length of tube is facilitated.
Particularly when the device is suitable for taking up steep positions with respect to a horizontal plane it is advantageous when the magazine comprises a stationary guide, which is situated at the radial outside of the path of the accommodation spaces, in which way it is prevented that lengths of tube can tilt out of the accommodation space. In storage condition the lengths of tube are at least fully enveloped here, as a result of which their position is secured in all angular positions of the auxiliary piece with magazine. In all angular positions the lengths of tube cannot undesirably move away from the magazine axis, particularly fall out of the magazine. Preferably the accommodation spaces open radially towards the outside, thus enhancing discharge to the transfer means.
The accommodation spaces preferably form a contiguous series in rotation direction, in which way the capacity is enhanced.
In a further development each accommodation space has a cross-section for accommodation of a same number of lengths of tube, for instance only one length of tube, in which case the secureness of its position is further enhanced.
In another further development the accommodation spaces comprise first and second accommodation spaces, wherein the first accommodation spaces have a cross-section for accommodation of one length of tube and the second accommodation spaces have a cross-section for accommodation of two or more lengths of tube, wherein the first and second accommodation spaces alternate considered in rotation direction. In that way the space within the circumferential path forming the series of accommodation spaces can be utilised for extra lengths of tube. The second accommodation spaces are then preferably formed for according to a substantially radial series keeping the lengths of tube in there.
In order to enhance that in case of a more upright position of the magazine the lengths of tube are discharged properly and fast from their accommodation space(s) the magazine may be provided with means for exerting a radial outward force on a length of tube in the accommodation space. Said means can be provided for all accommodation spaces jointly, in which case they are stationary with respect to the accommodation spaces moving past it, or for each accommodation space individually, in which case they move along with it.
The magazine can be provided with means for axially stopping the lengths of tube in the magazine, such as an end wall of the magazine that may or may not rotate along.
In one embodiment the device according to the invention is provided with a drive for movement of the auxiliary frame, particularly the magazine with respect to the main frame in the direction of the introduction path. According to a further aspect the invention provides a method for introducing a tube into a soil, in particular using a tube introduction device, such as a tube drilling device, particularly a device according to the invention, wherein a drill tube is forced into the soil length after length, according to an introduction path, wherein for the extension of the drill tube by said length a length of tube is supplied from a magazine having several accommodation spaces for lengths of tube, which magazine is rotatable about a stationary magazine axis, wherein by rotation of the magazine a length of tube is brought in front of a discharge location and at that location is taken over by a transfer mechanism that moves the length of tube according to a linear path to a position in line with the introduction path, after which the length of tube is attached to the drill tube and the transfer mechanism is moved back again to the discharge location.
In a first further development thereof the introduction path is at an angle to the vertical and the discharge of a length of tube from its accommodation space in the magazine to the transfer mechanism takes place under the influence or under the co-influence of gravity.
In an alternative further development thereof the introduction path is oriented at least substantially vertical and the discharge of a length of tube from its accommodation space in the magazine to the transfer mechanism is enhanced with additional movement means active in radial direction, such as a compression spring or a movable magnet that can be activated/deactivated.
In a further development the magazine with a drill motor and its guide defining the introduction path is tilted in a vertical tilting plane to the correct angle for the introduction of the tube into the soil and the length of tube is moved by the transfer mechanism according to a transfer path perpendicular to the tilting plane, wherein the magazine axis is parallel to the tilting plane. The transfer path is then preferably situated at the lower side of the magazine when in an inclined position of the introduction path.
According to a further aspect the invention provides a method for removing a tube from a soil, in particular using a device according to the invention, wherein a drill tube is pulled out of the soil length after length, according to an exit path, wherein for the shortening of the drill tube by said length each time a top length of tube is detached from the drill tube and moved by a transfer mechanism according to a linear path to a discharge location for discharge to a magazine having several accommodation spaces for lengths of tube, which magazine is rotatable about a stationary magazine axis, wherein by rotation of the magazine an empty accommodation space is presented to the length of tube and the length of tube is introduced from the transfer mechanism into the accommodation space and the transfer mechanism is moved back again to the exit path.
In a further development thereof the magazine with a drill motor and its guide defining the introduction path is tilted in a vertical tilting plane to the correct angle for taking the tube out of the soil and the length of tube is moved . by , the transfer mechanism according to a transfer path perpendicular to the tilting plane, wherein the magazine axis is parallel to the tilting plane. The transfer path preferably is situated at a lower side of the magazine when in an inclined position of the introduction path.
Devices of the type mentioned in the preamble are particularly known for in a controlled manner introducing a tube and having it follow a substantially horizontal path after in a first track the tube has been introduced into the soil at a small angle of less than 20 degrees to a horizontal reference plane. Depending qp the soil type this may take place by only pushing the tube, by rotating (with drill head) or a combination thereof. In that way passages can be made for lines to be introduced later on underneath roads, rivers and the like. Ah example of such a device for so-called horizontal drilling is described in US patent 4.953.638. Another example in US 2009/0014215.
It is an object of the invention to provide a device of the type mentioned in the preamble that cannot only be used in horizontal drilling but also in making blind boreholes that extend much deeper.
It is an object of the invention to provide such a device that has a simple build-up.
It is an object of the invention to provide such a device that functions reliably. For achieving at least one of these objects the invention, according to a further aspect, provides a device for introducing a tube into a soil, comprising a main frame and an auxiliary frame that is attached to the main frame so as to be movable, particularly tiltable, in a vertical plane, wherein the auxiliary frame is provided with a drive mechanism for according to an introduction path, driving the tube along the auxiliary frame into the soil, wherein the device is provided with means for adjusting the angle in a vertical main plane between the introduction path and a horizontal reference plane at least within a range of 20-80 degrees, preferably at least within a range of 10-at least almost 85 degrees, more preferably within a range of at least almost 0-at least almost 90 degrees. In that way the device can be used in horizontal drilling and also in making boreholes that are more vertically oriented. They may for instance be utilised for geothermal heat exchangers. Such boreholes are usually made using a separate drilling device having a vertical king's post or mast. The auxiliary frame in the device according to the invention can be considered the mast.
The adjustment means may comprise a first cylinder that is active between the auxiliary frame and the main frame and hinged thereto, wherein, in tilted condition, considered in projection on the vertical main plane, the auxiliary frame is furthermore hinged to the main frame by means of a hinged joint, at a location in horizontal direction between the intended introduction path and the work line of the cylinder. In general the auxiliary frame can be hinged to the main frame by means of a hinged joint, preferably in a lower part of the auxiliary frame.
In both cases it is advantageous when said hinged joint is multiple with at least two hinges situated spaced apart from each other in said plane of projection, particularly comprising a link rod or first intermediate rod movable in the vertical plane, which rod with the one end is hinged to the auxiliary frame and with the other end is hinged to the main frame. The engagement location of the hinged joint on the auxiliary frame can thus swing in the vertical plane with respect to the main frame, which can be advantageous in the positioning of the auxiliary frame. A cylinder or the like, such as said first cylinder, active between the main frame and the auxiliary frame at a distance from the hinged joint, can then take care of the orienting of the auxiliary frame. The first cylinder can engage onto a second intermediate rod which at the one end is hinged to the main frame and with the other end is hinged to the auxiliary frame, wherein the first cylinder is hinged to the second intermediate rod at a location between both ends thereof.
When during use of the device according to the invention the angle between the auxiliary frame and the horizontal plane is adjusted, the location of the resultant of the weight of the auxiliary frame, on which for instance also a store of lengths of tubes rests, also changes. In that way the stability of the device can be adversely affected.
In order to improve on this the device according to the invention, according to a further aspect, is provided with means for linearly moving a first auxiliary frame part, which at least comprises a tube introduction end section of the auxiliary frame, with respect to the main frame, according to the introduction path, in the vertical main plane. In that way the weight distribution can be influenced. In a simple embodiment the means for the linear movement comprise a second cylinder, extending substantially parallel to the introduction path.
The first auxiliary frame part may also comprise the guide for the drive mechanism and/or a magazine for lengths of tube (such as the magazine discussed above) that are to form the tube to be introduced.
The auxiliary frame can comprise a second auxiliary frame part for support and guidance of the first auxiliary frame part in its linear movement. It is in that case preferred that the first cylinder is hinged directly or via the first intermediate rod, if present, to the second auxiliary frame part.
In a further embodiment said first intermediate rod link rod with its ends is hinged to the second auxiliary frame part and the main frame, wherein, preferably, the connection between the first intermediate rod and the second auxiliary frame part is situated closer to the introduction end of the auxiliary frame than the connection between the second intermediate rod or the first cylinder with the auxiliary frame is. In an alternative embodiment the first intermediate rod with its ends is hinged to the first auxiliary frame part and the main frame, which may be advantageous to the height of the device when the auxiliary frame has been swung down substantially horizontally on the main frame. Furthermore this may facilitate bringing the auxiliary frame into an upright position and optionally may increase the angular range.
In a simple embodiment the connection of the first intermediate rod with the main frame and the connection of the second intermediate rod with the main frame coincide, at least in projection on the vertical plane.
The second cylinder with its ends can be connected to the first auxiliary frame part and the second auxiliary frame part, respectively. For further improvement of the weight distribution the introduction end section can be provided with a support member, preferably plate-shaped, for supporting at least a part of the weight of the end section of the auxiliary frame on a soil surface. In that way in several angular positions the auxiliary frame can also be supported on the soil, should this be desirable in view of stability. If the support member is hinged to the introduction end section, preferably so as to hinge freely, about a substantially horizontal axis, a reliable support on the basis can be realised at any angle in said range.
In an advantageous embodiment the support member is provided with a passage for the tube, particularly with a passage guiding the tube.
According to a further aspect the invention provides a device for introducing a tube into a soil, comprising a main frame and an auxiliary frame attached to the main frame so as to be movable, particularly tiltable, in a vertical plane, wherein the auxiliary frame is provided with a drive mechanism for according to an introduction path driving the tube along the auxiliary frame into the soil, wherein the device is provided with means for adjusting the angle in a vertical main plane between the introduction path and a horizontal reference plane, and wherein the auxiliary frame comprises a first auxiliary frame part and a second auxiliary frame part, wherein the first auxiliary frame part comprises at least an introduction end section of the auxiliary frame and preferably a guide for the drive mechanism and preferably a magazine for the lengths of tube from which the tube to be introduced can be assembled, furthermore comprising means for the linear movement of the first auxiliary frame part with respect to the second main frame, according to the introduction path, in the vertical main plane, wherein the second frame part is provided with a guide for the first auxiliary frame part in its linear movement, wherein near the introduction end section the first auxiliary frame part is connected to the main frame by means of a first intermediate rod, which first intermediate rod at its ends is hinged to the first auxiliary frame part and main frame, respectively, wherein the second auxiliary frame part is connected to the main frame by means of a hinged joint. The hinged joint between the second auxiliary frame part and the main frame preferably comprises a second intermediate rod that with its ends is hinged to the second auxiliary frame part and the main frame. Preferably the angle adjustment means comprise a first cylinder that is active between the second auxiliary frame part and the main frame and is hinged thereto, wherein the first cylinder is hinged directly or via the second first intermediate rod, if present, to the second auxiliary frame part. The means for the linear movement preferably comprise a second cylinder, extending substantially parallel to the introduction path. Said hinged joints preferably have axes that are oriented transverse to the said vertical main plane.
According to a further aspect the invention provides a method for introducing a tube into a soil, in particular using a device according to the invention, wherein a drill tube is forced into the soil length after length, according to an introduction path, wherein for the extension of the drill tube by said length a length of tube is supplied from a magazine having several accommodation spaces for lengths of tube, which magazine is rotatable about a stationary magazine axis, wherein by rotation of the magazine a length of tube is brought in front of a discharge location and at that location is taken over by a transfer mechanism that moves the length of tube according to a linear path to a position in line with the introduction path, after which the length of tube is attached to the drill tube and the transfer mechanism is moved back again to the discharge location. The introduction path can be at an angle to the vertical and the discharge of a length of tube from its accommodation space in the magazine to the transfer mechanism takes place under the influence or under the co-influence of gravity. The introduction path can be oriented at least substantially vertical wherein the discharge of a length of tube from its accommodation space in the magazine to the transfer mechanism is enhanced with additional movement means active in radial direction, such as a compression spring or a movable magnet that can be activated/deactivated.
The magazine with a drill motor and its guide defining the introduction path can be tilted in a vertical tilting plane to the correct angle for the introduction of the tube into the soil and the length of tube is moved by the transfer mechanism according to a transfer path perpendicular to the tilting plane, wherein the magazine axis is parallel to the tilting plane. The transfer path can be situated at the lower side of the magazine when in an inclined position of the introduction path.
According to a further aspect the invention provides a method for removing a tube from a soil, in particular using a device according to invention, wherein a drill tube is pulled out of the soil length after length, according to an exit path, wherein for the shortening of the drill tube by said length each time a top length of tube is detached from the drill tube and moved by a transfer mechanism according to a linear path to a discharge location for discharge to a magazine having several accommodation spaces for lengths of tube, which magazine is rotatable about a stationary magazine axis, wherein by rotation of the magazine an empty accommodation space is presented to the length of tube and the length of tube is introduced from the transfer mechanism into the accommodation space and the transfer mechanism is moved back again to the exit path. The magazine with a drill motor and its guide defining the introduction path can be tilted in a vertical tilting plane to the correct angle for taking the tube out of the soil and the length of tube is moved by the transfer mechanism according to a transfer path perpendicular to the tilting plane, wherein the magazine axis is parallel to the tilting plane. The transfer path can be situated at the lower side of the magazine when in an inclined position of the introduction path.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The device 1 of figures 1A-D comprises a mobile chassis 2, and a machine and operation part 3 permanently attached thereon and a mast part 4 tiltably attached thereon.
The chassis 2 comprises an outrigger 5 that is fixed thereto, on which at the location of hinged joint 6, the mast part 4 is attached so as to hinge about a horizontal axis. At the location of hinged joints 7a and 7b, one or more parallel operable first cylinders 7 that can be set as to length are hinged to the chassis 2 and the mast part 4, respectively. The mast part 4 comprises a drive or drill motor 8 for a drill tube, a guide 9 for the drill motor 8, a magazine 10 for lengths of drill tube and a drive 11 for the magazine 10. The drill motor 8 is provided with a coupling 8a for detachable connection to the rear end of an at that moment top length of tube of a tube extending according to the introduction path T. The introduction path T is the path of the drill motor 8 and is in the vertical main plane V (figure 1 D) that may also be considered a centre longitudinal plane of the device 1. The mast part 4 is furthermore built up from two parts, namely a supporting part 4a (second auxiliary frame part), for instance a supporting plate, and a main part 4b (first auxiliary frame part). The supporting part 4a is plate- shaped and forms a fixed unity with hinged joint 7b. The main part 4b is linearly movable along the supporting part 4a, guided and supported therein by the supporting plate 4a, by means of an operable second cylinder 12, which at the location of hinged joint 12a is hinged to the supporting part 4a and at the location of hinged joint 12b is hinged to the main part 4b.
At the lower end of the main part 4b a support plate 13 is attached, by means of free hinged joint 13a. The support plate 13 is provided with a round passage 13b for the tube. Optionally said passage may guide the tube in order to orient it as well, for that purpose for instance having the shape of a length of tube. In the situation of figure 1A, with mast part 4 in horizontal position, the device 1 is movable in the field. Arrived at the desired location in the field, by means of control means (not shown) on the device the cylinder or cylinders 7 can be operated to tilt the mast part, direction A, to the desired angle a. In figure 1 B for instance 45 degrees. Subsequently the cylinder 12 can be operated, for sliding the main part 4b of the mast part 4 in the direction B downwards, guided by supporting part 4a. The magazine 10 and the guide 9 are part of the main part 4b and follow its displacement. Finally the support plate 13 abuts the ground level, said plate orients at flat contact with the ground, and at least a part of the weight of the mast part 4 can be transferred to the ground via the support plate 13. The mast part 4 can be set at any angle a in the range shown in figure 1C. In figures 1C and 1 D said angle is 90 degrees. The moment shown is prior to sliding the main part 4b along the supporting part 4a. It is noted that the position of the cylinder 7 in the device according to the invention can be different, see for instance the hatched position of the cylinder (7) in figure 1 B, in which case the cylinder can be narrower.
Figure 2A shows a device 101 according to the invention, wherein the magazine 4 has been left out. It will be understood that in a comparable manner like in figures 1A-D such a magazine can be provided on the mast part 104, particularly main part 104b. The first or tilting cylinder 107 now engages onto a rod 114 (second intermediate rod), which at the bottom at the location of the hinged joint 106 is hinged to the chassis 102 and at the top by means of hinged joint 114a is hinged to the supporting plate 104a of mast part 104. From the hinged joint 106 a rod 115 (link rod or first intermediate rod) furthermore extends to a hinged joint 115a where the rod 115 is hinged to the supporting plate 104a. The supporting plate 104a and the rods 114 and 115 form a shape-retaining triangle and optionally can be replaced together by a plate or bracket.
At the bottom of the main part 104b a support plate 113 is attached by means of hinged joint 113a, which plate is able to rotate freely in the directions C.
By operating the cylinder 1 2 the main part 104b with magazine can be moved in the directions B.
In figure 2B a device 101' is shown, which for a large part corresponds with the device 101 of figure 2A, except as regards the connection 115a', which in this case is attached to the main part 104b of the auxiliary frame and provides a type of axis rod connection with hinged ends between the main frame and the said main part. As long as the cylinder 112 is kept at fixed pressure and therefore length, the distance between hinges 114a and 115a' is fixed and in fact, just like in figure 2A, a shape-retaining triangle is obtained. By changing the pressure in the cylinder 112 the distance between the hinges 114a and 115a' can also be changed. For instance it is possible in case of transport to achieve a situation in which the rods 114 and 115a' are substantially in each other's extension, as a result of which the height of the device can remain within limits. Furthermore it is possible here to realise an upright position of the mast part 104. In that case the cylinder 112 is fully extended, so that the main part 104b is moved upwards. The hinge 115a' follows that movement, and as a result the intermediate rod 115 tilts upwards, direction D. In that case the lower end of the main part 104b is fully released from the ground and due to expansion of cylinder 107 the main part 104b can be given a more upright orientation, as shown with hatches in figure 2B. Subsequently the cylinder 112 is retracted again until the support plate 113 (provided with tube passage 113b) rests on the ground and a large part of the weight of the main part 104b is transferred to the ground (direction B). Depending on the stroke of the cylinder 112 it is even possible to let the main part 104b find support in the soil of a local hollow.
Figure 6 shows an indication of the support and guidance of the main part 4b by the supporting part 4a.
The hinged joints shown have axes that are parallel to each other and transverse to the vertical main plane V.
Figure 3 shows an impression of an arrangement with device 1 , in the condition of figures 1C,D. Here the circle cylindrical shape of the magazine 10 can clearly be seen. This magazine is furthermore shown in figure 4A and comprises a frame built up from two end plates 20a which by supporting rods or outriggers 21a, 21 b are attached to the main frame 4b. Between the end plates 20a and 20b, rods 22 extend that are permanently attached thereto, which in that way form a kind of cage. The cage furthermore comprises rings 25a, 25b, which at the location of 28 are interrupted for forming a passage for a length of tube, which passage faces the chassis 2.
A driving shaft 23, defining a rotation axis or magazine axis S is bearing mounted in the fixed end plates 20a, 20b, wherein the drive 11 for the driving shaft 23 is attached on the end plate 20b. On the driving shaft 23 two magazine disks 24a, 24b are attached for joined rotation therewith. The disks 24a, 24b are provided with a series of radially outwardly opening accommodation spaces 26,27 alternately arranged in circumferential direction, wherein the accommodation spaces 26 are suitable for accommodation of two lengths of tube and the accommodation spaces 27 for accommodation of one length of tube, as also shown in figure 4C, wherein it is noted that the magazine is inverted there. Each accommodation space 26, 27 together with ring 25a, 25a forms a space for one or two lengths of tube, which space is bounded on all sides in a plane transverse to the axis S, and has such matching dimensions that the lengths of tube are fittingly accommodated therein with little play. On the mast part 4, its main part 4a, two transfer units 30a, 30b are arranged. They are at the side of the magazine 10 facing the main frame of the machine 1 and are active in a horizontal direction transverse to the vertical main plane, tangential to the circumferential path of the accommodation spaces. They each comprise a pinion 31a, 31b that is driven by a motor that is not shown. The pinions 31 a, 31b are in tooth engagement with racks 32a, 32b that are linearly guided by guides on the main part 4b which guides are not shown. At the end of each rack 32a, 32b at the location of hinged joint 33a, 33b a U-shaped holder 34a, 34b is attached, which can be tilted by cylinder 35a, 35b from a reception position (figure 4B) opening towards the passage 28, oriented substantially transverse to the movement path of the rack 32a, 32b, to a retraction position tilted about hinged joint 33a, 33b, wherein the U-shaped holder with the opening faces away from the rack in question according to a direction that is substantially parallel to the rack. Furthermore (also see figure 5B) the U-shaped holder 34a,34b is two-part, having an L-shaped part 34ax and an l-shaped leg 34bx, wherein the part 34ax is able turn away from leg 34bx counter the spring force, in order to temporarily enlarge the space in the holder. Thus in operation when the drill motor 8 has driven a tube so far into the soil according to the introduction path T, that the upper or rear end of the last length of tube has just passed by the plane of the lowermost end plate 21a, the drill motor is detached from said length of tube, the drill motor is moved back along the guide 9, and the motor 1 is operated to rotate the disks 24a, 24b over one pitch (direction E). In that way the following filled accommodation space 26 or 27 gets in front of passage 28, and the length of tube accommodated therein can be received in the U-shaped holders 34a, 34b. If said length of tube comes from an accommodation space 26 and another length of tube is still in there, the motor 11 can be operated briefly in order to move the accommodation space 26 in question slightly so that the accommodation space 26 is no longer in line with the passage 28. When discharging the next length of tube said short movement is cleared again. It is also possible to have the racks 32a, 32b play a part in stopping the next length of tube in accommodation space 26.
Subsequently the pinions 31 a, 31 b are operated to move the racks 32a, 32b and thus bring the U-shaped holders 34a, 34b in the introduction path. Then the upper edge of the length of tube is connected to the coupling 8a of drill motor 8 and, driven by the drill motor, the lower edge of the length of tube with the rest of the tube. Subsequently the cylinders 35a, 35b are extended and the U-shaped holders 34a, 34b tilt in direction F, after which they can be retracted from the length of tube in direction G by the racks 32a, 32b when the pinions 31 a, 31 b are rotated in opposite sense. The as yet stationary length of tube that has been left behind, then presses against U-part 34ax, that turns away from leg 34bx counter the spring force, until the part 34ax has passed underneath along the length of tube and springs back to the U- position. The drill motor 8 is then able to urge the tube into the soil, over the length of the length of tube just placed, guided by guide 9, whereas the holders 34a, 34b are returned to a position in line with (and under) the passages 28 and the disks 24a,24b are moved further for at the wanted moment bringing the next length of tube in front of the passage 28. Taking the next length of tube to the introduction path again can optionally take place within the period of the introduction motion and return motion of the drill motor 8, so that a time efficient process is achieved.
When withdrawing the drill tube, actions can take place in reverse order, and the magazine 10 can be filled again. For bringing a separate length of tube out of the holder and into an accommodation space again, use can be made of tube lifters that are movable in a controlled manner between a retracted position, in which the length of tube held by the U-shaped holders can sit between the lifters and the passage 28, and an extended position, in which the length of tube has been lifted out of the holders and has been brought through the passage 28 into an accommodation space of the magazine. In figures 5A-C a few possible layouts for the disks 24a, 24b are shown. Figure 5A shows the disks 24a,24b of figure 4A, however a compression spring 36 has also been shown for if necessary aiding an inner length of tube getting out of the accommodation space 26. Said length of tube should after all traverse a larger radial way before getting in passage 28. At a small angle a of the mast part gravity will suffice for that purpose, in case of more upright positions, however, such a compression spring may enhance the speed of the process. Each accommodation space 26 can be provided with such a compression spring.
In figure 5B a disk 24 with only single accommodation spaces 27 is shown, in which a single operable pusher 37 is provided on each end plate. The pusher 37 therefore is stationary so that the pusher 37 is able to engage each length of tube that gets in front of the passage 28 in order to increase the speed of discharge.
In figure 5C a disk 24 is shown having only double accommodation spaces. In that case as well a pusher 37 may be useful. Magnets that can be activated/deactivated can also be used, as schematically shown in figure 7 with 200a-c, that are attached to cylinder rods of operable cylinders (not shown) attached in the mast, for engaging a length of tube near the upper end and lower end and taking it out of an accommodation space 26,27 and bringing it into holders 34a, 34b according to a radial direction with respect to the rotation axis S, or vice versa (when introducing lengths of pipe into the magazine). This is particularly advantageous in vertical positions of the mast part, wherein gravity does not help taking out a length of tube from the magazine or hardly so. The cylinders push the magnets 200a-c against a length of tube in the accommodation space, the magnets are activated, the cylinder rods are retracted while taking the length of tube along. When the length of tube is accommodated in the holders 34a, 34b the magnets are deactivated again. At the top the magnets comprise one magnet 200a and at the bottom two magnets 200b, c placed just above one another.
The above description is included to illustrate the operation of preferred embodiments of the invention and not to limit the scope of the invention. Starting from the above explanation many variations that fall within the spirit and scope of protection of the present invention will be evident to an expert.
