Abstract

The invention relates to an improved cover which can be fitted to any integral- or open-type helmet configuration, formed by two elastic parts joined at a single seam. The front part contains the corresponding opening which fits perfectly to the opening in the helmet and which enables the visor to be used and tilted or rotated in relation to the pivot point provided on the body of the helmet.

Description

^« PERFECTED CASE FOR MOTORCYCLE HELMETS"

More specifically, the invention relates to a perfected sheath, capable of adapting to any integral (whole) or open-type helmet configuration, constructed from two pieces of elastic material joined by a single seam, presenting in its part anterior the corresponding opening that adapts perfectly to the opening of the helmet and allows the use of the visor as well as its tilting or turning movement with respect to the point of articulation provided by the helmet body.

The improved case has several associated purposes: basically to decorate the helmet with ornamental, advertising, sports, etc., since the helmet always has the same appearance, regardless of the erosion of its external surface; and the second is the protection of the outer surface of the helmet, to avoid erosion and wear resulting from dirt, scratches and insects that during its use alter the helmet's coating material.

There are several types of helmet shells on the market, and therefore they can be considered as a State of the Art, but they only cover the so-called open helmets, that is to say non-integral ones that protect the user's mouth and jaw. In addition, the known covers have been designed using three pieces, a wide intermediate and rectilinear strip and two lateral pieces tending to the rectangle, which are joined together by the corresponding seams. An example of this case is described and claimed in Utility Model n ^to 200101152, whose purpose is "a cover for motorcycle helmets."

Another antecedent is the case claimed in French Patent 2680305 Invention n ^2, whose object is a "cover-hulls removable and interchangeable" made of a non - rigid material, and incorporating one fixing means to said hull. In this case the helmet is also of the open type.

The improved case has been designed with a triple objective: first to fill the existing vacuum destined for full-face helmets, secondly to minimize the manufacturing costs of the case, and finally to improve the adaptation of the cover to the particular configuration of the helmet, so that when placing the cover its appearance simulates the helmet itself and does not cover the opening provided for the face.

To cover these objectives, a pattern has been designed consisting of two identical pieces joined by their upper warped side by means of the corresponding seam, and equipped with the cover of a mouth or hole that fits perfectly with the opening or hole of the helmet, and a hem in all its lower contour inside which the corresponding elastic rubber is arranged, not subjecting the sheath to tension in the vertical parts corresponding to the hole or the mouth, in order to achieve a perfect adaptation of the sheath around the hole or opening of the helmet.

The only difference between the cover for an integral helmet and for an open helmet is that the shape of the pattern is different: in the first case the pattern has a hole in the front, while in the second case presents an opening in the anterior part; according to the different helmet configurations.

The chosen fabric is manufactured based on elastic threads on both sides of both warp and weft, which allow on the one hand the possibility of adapting to the different types of integral helmet, as well as within each type to the different sizes provided for thus being able to be better adapt to the measurements of each user's head. An additional feature of the fabric is that it will be washable, so it will allow a long use and conservation of its colors and texture.

The described fabric may have any type of ornamentation, based on known or not representations, which in addition to protecting the outer surface of the helmet allows washing and the possibility of exchanging some covers for others when the user has more than one, either for use one while cleaning another, or to confer on the same helmet different appearances depending on the ornamentation that it presents.

Other details and features will be revealed in the course of the description given below, in which reference is made to the accompanying figures, which are shown by way of illustration but not limited to one of preferred embodiments.

In one of the preferred embodiments of what is the object of the present invention, the sheath (10) is formed by two identical pieces (20) joined by a perimeter seam (21) except for its lower perimeter in which a hem (15) inside which an elastic band (16) is provided, as can be seen in figures n-1 and 3.

A helmet (11) of the integrated called, is as shown in Figure ^s 1 and 2, a body in one piece and closed by the front part except for a front opening (12a), internally coated by a padded inner lining (17), whose function is the elastic adjustment between the user's head and the helmet body (11) while at the same time in the event of an accident it dampens the impact. The body of the integral helmet (11) is completely closed except for the front hole (12a), protected by a transparent visor (13) that protects the eyes and nose of the user, while the mouth and jaw is fully protected by the bottom of the helmet The visor (13) articulates and swings around the two points of articulation (14) located on the side of the helmet body (11). As can be seen in Figures ^and 1 and 2, the reason why the sleeve (10) will be pierced by said points (14) as the bores (24), is so that the visor (13) is operating and the cover (10) properly placed in working position, covering (10) the entire surface of the helmet body (10), without interfering with the function and movement of the visor, for this purpose the perimeter of the opening of The cover (10) will come with a hem (23), inside which the corresponding elastic rubber (16) will be placed.

The cover (10) for an integral helmet (11) in accordance with the configuration of said integral helmet (11) has a front hole (25a). Thus the hole (12a) of the integral hull (11) is covered by the hole (25a) of the sheath (10), surrounding

(12a) the aforementioned hem (23) whose elastic band (16) in the vertical zone (26) between strokes, see figure n ² 3, is subjected to tension thus preventing the opening (25) of the cover from covering the opening (12) of the helmet due to excessive pressure of the tires (16) on the hem (23), converging the zones (26) towards the center of the opening (25) covering the same.

In the same way in figures n ⁹ 4-5 the open helmet (11) is shown with the cover (10) incorporated, and in figure n ^to 6 a profile view of said cover (10). The placement of the sheath (10) in the helmet (11) is the same as in the case of an integral helmet, that is to say that the opening (25b) of the sheath (10) coincides with the opening (12b) of the open helmet ( 11) and in the vertical sections of the opening (12b) of the helmet (11) the elastic rubber (16) does not exert tension, so that no part of the opening of the helmet (11) is covered with the sheath (10) ), ensuring perfect user visibility. The pieces (20) will be manufactured based on elastic fibers that allow successive washing without losing the elasticity condition, thanks to which it is easy to place on top of the helmet (11), adapting to the geometry of the helmet and respecting the front mouthpiece ( 12a) or (12b) thereof.

The surface of the cover (10) will be ornamented with any type of figure and drawing, either resulting from the fabric's own texture, well painted, printed or any other conventional or known system. Described sufficiently the present invention in correspondence with the attached drawings, it is easy to understand that any modifications of detail that are deemed convenient may be introduced therein, provided that the essence of the invention that is summarized in the following claims is not altered.
