Abstract

An animal ear image capturing apparatus (1), an image processing system and a method for identification of an individual laboratory animal in a medical test are disclosed. The animal ear image processing system comprises an ear sensor (9) for capturing an image of the visual blood vessels in an ear of the animal and electronic means for retrieving the image and transforming it to a searchable image representation. The invention further discloses software with algorithms which are used to identify the blood vessel pattern of the animal's ear and to identify the individual animal.
