Abstract

Angled needle holder facilitates the work in narrow surgical fields very much. Here are two options: 1- Fixed angle for each needle holder (so we have different types of angled needle holder according to the surgical field 60, 90 and 120 degrees. 2- Angled needle holder with changeable angle through joint between the limbs which grasping the needle and the other limb. The right-angled needle here the needle holder grasp the needle parallel not perpendicular to the curve of the needle.

Description

Angled needle holder and right angled needle
Technical field
Surgical field as general especially narrow and deep surgical field.
The background art
The traditional surgical needle holder by its handle, lock and joint grasping the needle perpendicular to its axis.
The difficulties
Narrow and deep surgical fields may be:
1- in vertical plane as in pelvic operations and abdominal operations in obese patients. a- Straitening of the needle holder make obligatory angle between it and the edge of the wound which make taking stitches in the depth very difficult unless grasping the needle holder by flexion of the wrist to make the axis of needle holder perpendicular on the edge of the wound and this make the surgeon difficultly work. b- grasping needle by traditional needle holder to make it perpendicular to its plate lead to space occupying in already narrow field and the need for twisting movement to allow the needle to be perpendicular to the tissue to be stitched.
2-horezontal narrow and deep surgical fields as in high vaginal and cervical tears, posterior liver tears and oral operations, here grasping of the needle holder from its handle masking he field also Straitening of the needle holder lead to obligatory angle between it and the plane of the tissues to be stitched which lead to very difficult manipulation.
Disclosure of the invention
New designs of needle holder facilitate the work very much in narrow and deep surgical fields,
It is angled needle holder has the following criteria
1 -angle between the limp that grasp the needle holder and that which grasp the needle There is one of two options: a-the angle is fixed but available in various degrees 60,90 and 120 degrees and so we have three shaped of the angled needle holder :l-nedle holder 60 degree.2-needle holder 90 degree 3-needle holder 120 degree. Each one is used according to the field.
b-the angle can be changed according the need of the field by special joint between the two limbs from 0 to 180 degree and so can be used as straight needle holder if the angle is 180 degree.
2-the limb for grasping the needle is longer than the other.
3 -the length of the limb that grasps the needle is variable according to the fields.
4-the plate to grasp the needle: here we have two options:
a-straight with the line of the long limb to grasp on right angled needle parallel not perpendicular to its curve, so it will carry longitudinal groove with cress -cross serrations to perfectly grasp the needle and also has a circular opening to allow the suture material to come from it and so not crushed by the plate on locking.
Here the needle is designed to be slightly right-angled with the limb to be grasped by the plate of the needle holder is shorter than the other limb, and the angle is smooth.
b-make anther right angle with the long limb to grasp the needle perpendicular to its curve as tradition so we have here needle holder with two angles with long limb in between.
Brief Description of drawing:
1- Locking plate 2- Serrated grove for grasping the needle 3- Modified right angled needle 4- Joint
Best mode for carrying out the invention:
This needle holder can be manufactured by using the stainless steel.
