Abstract

A method (300) of re-configuring a cell profile and/or one or more cell operational parameters based on said cell profile in a cellular communication system. The method includes the steps of measuring (310) one or more items of environmental data relating to one or more operations of said cellular communication system; comparing (315) the one or more items of measured environmental data against the cell profile and determining (320) whether the cell profile is correct based on the step of comparing. If the cell profile is not correct, one or more operational parameters of the cellular communication system are re-configured. A communication system (100, 200) and a communication unit (146) are also provided. The mechanism for re-configuring a cell profile and/or one or more cell operational parameters enables changes in the environmental conditions of the communication system, for example increased handovers due to a new road layout, to be accounted for automatically, for example without Network Operator intervention in re-classifying the cell profile.
