TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The present invention relates to method and system for illumination in general, and more specifically to method and system for illuminating a vessel.
BACKGROUND
[002] Vessels may have various useful as well as decorative aspects and uses. A vessel according to the present art is possibly being selected for its purposes based on these two aspects, amongst other aspects. Yet, once it is selected, its properties remain the same as they were on the day of manufacturing. While such vessel may be useful for a very long time, its decorative aspect may deteriorate as time passes. It is thus desired to have the decorative aspect of a vessel able to alternate, providing alternative look to the same vessel, without having to replace it by another only for its boring appearance.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[003] A system and method for illuminating a vessel are disclosed. According to the present invention the illumination may be by an invisible source of light thus making the illuminated vessel look as if it is glowing.
[004] According to another embodiment of the present invention the source of light may comprise a plurality of illumination elements.
[005] According to yet another embodiment of the present invention the plurality of illumination elements may comprise illumination elements of different illumination colors. [006] According to still another embodiment of the present invention the illumination elements may be placed so as to get several resulting illumination patterns.
[007] According to yet additional embodiment of the present invention the plurality of illumination element having several illumination colors may be turned on and off, or have their intensity be controlled so to achieve substantially endless illumination patterns varying in time and on the surface of the vessel. [008] Still, according to yet another embodiment of the present invention the vessel may be formed to have engraved or similarly worked surface, to cause the illumination to have additional visual effects on the vessel.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] In the following description, various aspects of the present invention will be described. For purposes of explanation, specific configurations and details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. However, it will also be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details presented herein. Furthermore, well-known features may be omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the present invention. The term 'vessel', wherever used across this application is be understood as comprising vessels, pottery, vases, dishes etc. [0011] Reference is made now to Fig. 1, which is a 3D illustration of a sink vessel illumination system 100 built and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention. Vessel illumination system 100 may comprise a vessel 102, an illumination system 104 and drainage tubing set 106. It would be apparent to a person skilled in the art that any other vessel with any desired shape or design may be used in the present invention, as long as it is made of a material at least partially transparent to light.
[0012] Reference is made now to Fig. 2, which is a 3D blow-up illustration of a vessel illumination system 200 built and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention. Sink vessel illumination system 200 may comprise a vessel 202, a light-guide and light-engagement device 204 and an illumination-elements housing 206. Light emitted from an illumination element (not shown) may be guided through light-guide and light-engagement device 204 into an adjacent side of vessel 202 to transmit light through to illuminate vessel 202 from the inside of its wall. [0013] Reference is made now to Figs. 3A and 3B, which are schematic partial cross-sectional illustration of a vessel illuminating systems 300 and 350 respectively, built and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention and to Fig. 6 which is a flowchart illustrating a method of operation of an illuminating system according to some embodiments of the present invention. Systems 300, 350 may comprise illumination element 302, 352, light-engagement device 304, 354 and a vessel having sidewalls 306, 307, 356, 357. Light emitted from illumination element 302, 352 (box 602) represented for clarity of explanation by dashed lines 310, 360 may be guided through light-guide and light-engagement device 304, 354 to in between vessel wall 306, 307, 356, 357 (box 604). Light lines 310, 360 are reflected from sidewall 309, 359 of light-engagement device 304, 354 forming reflection light lines 312, 362 traveling to in between vessel having sidewalls 306, 307, 356, 357. Light lines 312, 362 then are reflected from sidewalls 306, 356 to form secondary reflected light lines 314, 364, and so on. By a selection of material of which light-engagement device 304, 354 is made of and by selection of angle α, β of sidewall 309, 359, initial reflection angle is defined so as to guide light from illumination element 302, 352 into between sidewalls 306, 307, 356, 357 and thus to lighten the vessel, making it appear as if it glows from an invisible source of light. [0014] Light-guide and light-engagement device 304, 354 may have the form of a prism having surfaces designed to substantially fully reflect light emitted from illumination element 302, 352 so that that light is internally guided through device 304, 354 in between the side walls 306, 307, 356, 357 of a vessel. [0015] By making a desired design of light-guide and light-engagement device 304, 354 the angles of penetration of the light rays into wall 306, 356 of the vessel, as well as their dispersion, may be controlled so as to achieve various lighting effects. For example, the surfaces of device 304, 354 may be designed so that light guided from illumination element 302, 352 to illuminate in between side walls 306, 307, 356, 357 will substantially fully be internally reflected from wall to wall, with minimal transmission of light outside of said walls, thus creating a glowing effect on said walls.
[0016] It would be apparent to a person skilled in the art that the designs of light-guide and light-engagement device 304, 354 as well as the selection of its material may be many in order to achieve different effects of the illumination on the vessel. These designs are not limited by the examples given in the drawings and specification.

Illumination system 400 may comprise illumination-elements housing 402 and at least one illumination element 404. Illumination elements 404 may be placed according to any desired pattern of placement, and in the present example along a circumference line 403 co-centered with the vessel (not shown). Illumination-elements housing 402 may comprise illumination elements 404 and any desired additional circuitry needed to support proper functioning of illumination elements 404. Illumination-elements housing 402 may be formed in any desired form to fit into a desired place and space according to a specific required design of the illuminated vessel 402. Illumination-elements housing 402 may also be made to stand harsh environmental conditions such as high humidity, excessive heat etc.
[0018] Reference is made now to Fig. 5, which is a 3D schematic illustration of a vessel 500 built and operating according to some embodiments of the present invention. Vessel 500 is made with engravings 502 on at least one face of its wall 501. Engravings 502 may cause special lighting effects acting on the light being guided within wall 501.
[0019] According to an embodiment of the present invention, when more than one illumination element is used, the specific position for each illumination element may be chosen so as to cause a desired spatial or planar lighting pattern of the vessel. Additionally, according to yet another aspect of the present invention the illumination elements may be of different colors and even a single illumination element may be of the multi-color type. Thus, light being emitted by the illumination elements may be of different colors, and even vary in time, and in position respective to the vessel. Accordingly, various colors, and various color patterns may be formed merely by driving the illumination elements by an appropriate control unit.
[0020] According to some embodiments of the present invention, illumination elements may be controlled to create illumination pattern or sequence so as to represent data, such as but not limited to, of the temperature of the liquid in the vessel, the saltiness of the liquid and similar related properties. Such data may be represented by a scale of colors, a spatial pattern of light, a time varying pattern of light or any combination thereof. [0021] In other embodiments of the present invention the same inventive solution may be used in many other ways, as long as source of light is being directed into a wall of a vessel, said wall is at least partially transparent, so as to illuminate said wall from the inside. [0022] While certain features of the present invention have been illustrated and described herein, many modifications, substitutions, changes, and equivalents will now occur to those of ordinary skill in the art. It is, therefore, to be understood that the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications and changes as fall within the true spirit of the invention.
