Abstract

The invention relates to an ultrasonic applicatior device for the treatment of biological systems, comprising a flat, flexible ultrasonic applicator and a cavitation medium. Cavitation processes in a zone close to a surface are difficult to control and maintain at a constant level during the treatment of biological systems. The efficacy of a cavitation in layers of liquid that are close to the surface can be improved by the use of a gas-enriched cavitation medium (6) and an ultrasonic applicator, preferably a sound applicator with a film structure (10), for ultrasound in the frequency range 20 - 100 kHz, said applicator moulding particularly well to the surfaces (11) and consisting of bonded PVDF films.
