Abstract

A virtual reality immersion system (fig. 7) provides a video camera (1701) and a video display (1708). A plurality of target markers (fig. 18) distributed throughout the virtual environment room (fig. 20). The selected pairs of target markers are identified and the position of each target marker is calculated relative to the camera and relative to each other target marker. Once the target marker positions have been calculated, the invention determines the user’s position within the virtual environment. When the user’s viewpoint is changed, the user’s position calculated is used to change the position and angle of the 3D content which is repositioned and streamed to the video display (1708).
